BT connection with laptop
1) can someone explain how to use your phone as a modem to connect to the internet with edge on a laptop using BT?
2) I understand that you need to have a media package..I'm not sure how much i need. Assuming I'm not going to be downloading large files, just doing basic surfing..whats safe?

1. There are specific setting you need to enter in as modem information... the info is as follows.
Telephone Number: *99***3# (this can vary, variants are replacing the 3 with a 1 or a 2)
Account name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1

2. Basic surfing could use alot of data as well considering the build of some sites, with all the flash, pictures, and what not. Buying a Media Package would be your best bet for unlimited internet, otherwise you'll be spending alot if you use pay-per-use.

i've helped a customer set up the wireless modem with other phones but never with a sonyericsson. if the software that came with the phone is no help try using Cingular's Connection Manager. www.cingular.com/connectionmanager
Also you are going to create a bottleneck. The phone is capable of being used as a modem via Bluetooth but on a phone with EDGE, your Bluetooth connection to your laptop is slower than your phone can access the web. Its faster to use a cable, but more convenient to use Bluetooth.
