Ok I am seriously thinking about getting this phone, i am in desperate need of an upgrade (nokia 8265). I love this phone so on to the q's to see if its worth it. I have a friend that works in Cingular HQ and he as well as many people on here say operation is slow...does sony ericsson usually put out a firmware update for the public to update their phones or will we have to bring them in?

Lastly, can you use a larger than 32mb memory stick iduo n the phone, say a 256 or a 512? Thanks for the helps guys...great site!

Max supported is 128mb.... Slow is all a matter of opinion/perspective. From what I heaer its not really as bad as some make it out to be. Don't know about the firmware thing, but I could reccomend a good beer if you're interested?

regarding the slow menus. i was also worried about this but i've found it to be fine. you should really check a phone out at the store rather than taking people opinions on it.

but be careful, b/c my menus are really really slow for the first minute or so after the phone has just been powered on.

The menus arent as slow as i was expexting them to be. That being said, they could be a bit zippier, but nothing of such concern as to not buy the phone over. Its not so slow that it makes them a chore to use.

It also doesnt seem outside of the realm of posibilities for them to update the firmware some time in the future.

thanks that some of the info i was looking for, from actual users. I played with it in store a few days ago and didnt notice anything significantly wrong but i thought it might just slow down with the more data you put in the phone.

grafpaper: you say that there might be an update, does SE allow you to download them from their site or do you have to bring the phone in?

One more Q, is Cingular planning any huge system upgrades in the near future. I know push 2 talk is in the works..any other big update they are doing and when they may be coming out? I figured id just get a cheaper phone for now if new stuff will be out soon. Thanks yall are a great help.
