Insurance on award phones

Any of you guys who won the phone put insurance on it? I know that Lockline IS being offered on this model. Normally, from what I understand, if insurance is added any time other than at the time of activation/upgrade there is a 7-day waiting period b4 insurance goes into effect. Supposedly someone has to call your phone to make sure that it IS in your possession & that it IS in working condidion & you aren't trying to add insurance after losing/breaking it (committing fraud.

I am assuming that those of us who won the thing should be able to pay our $3.99/mo & insure it. Has anyone tried this yet?

I know - someone is going to complain that I shouldn't be able to insure my free phone. Well, to him I say in advance - tough crap...

Insurance IS available on the SE S710a. It is provided through Lock/Line at the monthly premium of $3.99 w/ a $50 claim deductible. You can make 2 claims per year, with at least 2 weeks between claims. If you've purchased (or won) a new phone, and the Insurance is already on your account, there has to be at least 1 week of calls on the phone you are claiming...i.e - I got the Train/gain s710a, I have to make calls from it for a week, they will see calls made from the new phone and compare the IMEI# on my acct., then I can make a claim. Also, you can call/go into a store and they will be able to do an IMEI change for you. They've changed the protocols with the insurance process, so if you claim it "lost" or "stolen", they will ask for a polic...

Oh my God! I cant believe you want to insure your FREE phone, they shouldn't let you do that!! Oh my God, thats such bullshiznit! If its free you shouldnt be able to insure it just because it was free and you didnt pay anything for it..... Sorry, couldn't resist 🤣 Only kidding.

But yeah, even if its free people still should be able to insure it. I mean technically its not free because you had to work for it all in all, and working is what got you that phone. Not like someone walked up to you and said, "Hey, want a phone?".

This morning I logged into POS & changed my IMEI # in the system. After that I added insurance to my account without incident! So I guess all is well - I didn't get any kind of "CASE ERROR - INVALID FUNCTION" msg.

Definately worth insuring! 🙂

For the inquiring minds that want to know:

Insurance is $3.99/mo w/ $50 deductible when filing a cliam. You're allowed 2 claims per year. I believe that insurance will cover pretty much everything except for water damage. If your phone is stolen, you will need to provide a police report. Ins does cover plain loss of the phone, also damage from usage (like a button that stops working), accidental damage (such as dropping the phone), software problems (like the z500a's sometimes-problem - "The Blue Screen of Death" LOL).

In addition to water damage, it will NOT cover damage due to a pet getting hold of your phone. All in all, its a pretty good deal for a phone like this that costs around $600 (w/o discount + tax) to replace.
