EDGE seems to really not have the edge.
Okay, so prior to trying it out, EDGE sounded like creme de la creme to me.
But since having my S710a, and tethering it to my PowerBook, EDGE doesn't seem like all that. I know for 100% that I'm getting an EDGE signal, but pages still take forever to load like with GPRS. Download speeds around no more than 3.5 kbps, the most I've seen 5.9 kbps and that lasted less than the time I had to be joyous about it.
What's so special about EDGE, in all reality? Am I doing something wrong? What's up with this?

To be honest....compared to DSL or even a landline modem - it really ISN'T anything special. Especially considering the abundance of unencrypted 802.11 networks it's not as useful as most people seem to make it out to be.

I feel you Hero....I wasn't thinking that EDGE would kick ass, but it seem really slow to me. Isn't EDGE suppose to go up to 300K?? I just dont get it. Someone please help us cope with this.

edge isn't available in all area..don't go by cingular map..it's only available in certain area..los angeles, alot of places texas, san francisco...so make sure you're in an Edge deploy area and not just EDGE capable(future rollout)
...
if you have a cingular sim, you are not connecting to an edge tower directly, thats why it is slower. if you had a blue sim you would notice the difference.

Is this ever going to change?
