then "More"...
then "Status"
The profile says "Roam". Is this correct? I'm in my local area.
Also, the security is off. Is this fine?

Just because you're in your local area doesn't mean you're connected via Cingular tower. It could be registering as an AT&T or T-Mobile, or maybe something else, I don't know! 😕 But that pretty much (in my opinion) means you're not getting EDGE connection, only GPRS.
Now, considering AT&T does have EDGE, perhaps you are getting EDGE coverage, but if it is a T-Mobile tower, it'll only be GPRS.
My security is off too, I don't know the difference.
