Audiovox CDM-8940
mini SD card?
I've seen conflicting reports for the SD card slot on the left side of the phone. Is it mini SD or standard SD? With the size of the phone being pretty small (compared to the VX-8000), I assume it is the mini SD. Does anyone know for sure?
Also, any word on a release date. I believe it is currently in the trial stage by select users. With the VX-8000 and A890 due out the first week on February, I would hope the 8940 would be around this time also. I don't want to wait anymore!!

From what I've seen, mini SD comes in 64MB and 128MB. Regular SD range from 8MB to 1GB.

Actually I just did a few quick searches and it turns out that mini SD cards come in sizes up to 1 GB as well. Maybe mini just refers to the physical size.

Did you check the specs for the phone under "Info" in Phonescoop? It says the memory is mini SD. 😕

This is from the Sandisk website. "SanDisk offers the industry's broadest range of capacities for miniSD cards with capacities ranging from 64MB to 256MB."

I am currently testing the phone. This phone looks great, rf is great. The EV_DO was great in Vegas, at CES. I have tested all of the EV-DO phones "stated" for the FEB 1st release. The SAM a890 was a great phone, yes no speaker phone, but all the other features were great. I have not heard of any soon to be released dates, only for the vx8000.

Yes, it is suppose to be QVGA. Looking at it, it looks great, maybe not quite as beautiful as the 9900, but the 9900 is has a larger screen which adds to the impression! 🙂

Check out tigerdirect.com. They have Sandisk mini SD cards at 128MB ($24.99) and 256MB ($39.99). The cool thing is that it comes with an adapter to fit into standard SD slots, which is great so I can put it into my computer!
What also surprises me is the low price. I would think that the smaller dimensions would increase the price...but they're very comparable to standard SD prices.
I can't wait for this phone to come out! Anyone heard of a firm release date yet. I'm really hoping it's Feb. 1 like the other two.
