Palm Treo 650 (CDMA)
Does anyone NOT like the Treo 650 - I am a hesitant shopper
I am looking for solid feedback for Treo650 users. I am a real estate professional that is mostly looking for contact management. I will have limited use for wireless web & mail (at $45/mo. it's hardly worth it).

I am also leaning toward the Treo 650. I love Samsung in general. I have had many Samsung phones in the past and theyare built rock solid and Samsung stands behind their products.
However, after going to the Verizon store and playing around with both I found the Treo to be a better product for my needs. I, like you, don't really need Wifi and EVDO. Would have been nice to have to occasionally access the web without having to subscrinbe to the VZW dataplan.
The most important functionality for me is the phone and contact management database. In my opinion the Treo is best suited to performing these functions. What I particularly liked about the Treo was that you can use vast majority of the functions with single hand operation. W...

I just got mine a few days ago and love it. I had the Motorola E815 for two weeks and that fell short. Vibrate that you couldn't feel. VCast is worthless, etc.
The Treo is NOT an EVDO phone so the web connections are slower BUT the EVDO connections on the Motorla were worthless because the screen was so small.
The onscreen buttons and options are great. I'm not syncing with Outlook or keeping a data base so I can't help you there.
It's also very light and fits in a pocket better than a clamshell phone.

This is very good information. I've read so many mixed reviews that it makes a decision difficult.
I would consider other PDA phones, but am limited to Palm OS for synching with real estate software. It seems like the Treo650 is the best option at this time.
Can anyone comment on the phone functionality? That is very important as well. I've read that using the phone without a headset may be difficult???

What real estate software do you use? Just curious. Actually I have the treo 650 and my husband who is a real estate agent has a samsung i730. So i have been playing with both. I have been using Palm OS now for a very long time, years, since palm was US Robotics Pilot. So I will not switch to windows mobile. The things I have noticed is overall I like PalmOS better more intuitive and also more intuitive combined with phone functions and features. The only thing I like about my husbands phone is that the default front screen has tasks, msgs, and the next date book entry all on the front default phone screen, I like that. Other then that I think the PalmOS with the phone is a lot more intuitive. Also the palm is smaller and I like that...

I am a real estate agent and I use the Treo for contact management. Yes it is a good investment. I have it tied to Top Producer 7i. You can use it to retrieve mail but I would not recommend you getting this Data-Package crap that I hear about. That is not worth it. The Treo650 can be configured for simple mail for you to download randomly.

Base on what my needs were the treo 650 has come out the winner. I did buy the unlimited data pkg, but will cancel it today, I find no need to spend an additional 50.00 month. I do however use it on occasion when i'm lost.
I am not fond of the palm os but hey it works, it just take time to get used to it. I use Microsoft outlook for my contact and calender database, and wireless sync, it works fine. Camera and bluetooth works well.

I'm also a real estate broker. I got the Treo 650 when it first came out with Verizon. I love it! I use it for opening lock boxes. It has the MLS (Supra software). I used the Palm before so I simply transferred all my phone numbers and appointments to the Treo. It's easy to dial because you simply look up the person's name by typing in the first few letters and once the person you wwant comes up you hit SEND. I like the phone a lot too. Everyone is complaining about Verizon's expensive data service, but they just came out with a few new bundled plans, combining the basic phone service with unlimited data service for one fee. 1350 minutes with unlimited data service is $109.99.
