It was my understanding that once your contract ran out you could use it any time.

I haven't renewed my contract or used me new every 2 in about a year and a half and they still offer it to me. You get the contract price and than $100 of the contract price if i remember right plus any rebate involved. I believe the only catch is you have to renew for a 2 year contract. The other thing is its UP to $100 its not $100 on every phone it depends on what phone it is. There are a lot of catches on that you have to watch out for but you can use the new every two in advance.

The 8000 is a great phone. But the e815 should be out on Tuesday (7/5/05) and it has bluetooth and upgradable memory for $149.99 minus a $50 mail in rebate. When you take off your NE2, the phone will be free for the newest phone out.

Here is the info re NE2 from the Verizon website:

Get a free phone (up to $100) every two years. You’re automatically enrolled when you sign up and maintain two years of service on a select digital calling plan with monthly access of $34.99 or higher. At the end of the two years, renew your service for another two years and you will qualify for a new digital phone up to a $100 value! Or you can receive a $100 credit toward the purchase of a new phone. Either way, you’ll be sure to have the latest wireless technology.

You must retain the same wireless handset for 24 months in order to receive the full advantages of this program. If you choose to replace your handset at a discounted price prior to completing 24 months of enrollment in ...

It means you get the phone with $100 subtracted from the 2 year price ( as long as you renew on a 2 year plan) which means you will pay at the POS:
$49.99 plus tax... then your rep will hand you a $50 mail-in-rebate and in 8-10 weeks, your phone will be FREE (minus tax and a stamp)

It all depends on the price of the phone and the New every two is UP TO $100 its not guaranteed you will get $100 off the phone. There are a lot of catches. Some people say you have a limited time to use your new every 2 promotion i have been off my contract for quite some time now at least a year and Verizon is still willing to offer me the New Every 2 promotion it just all depends. Its not a very organized promotion. I think they should do something for people with 1 year contracts for how often phones and technology changes its nearly impossible to keep the same phone for 2 years now with the services that are being offered and everything now.

I believe you have six months to take advantage of NE2 otherwise you forfeit that option.

When you go to Verizon web-site. Go to phone section and look at the price(s) in red. When click on any particular phone...Kyo K444 for example ($19.99). Next page show prices with one-yr or two-yrs in RED...here's the thing...if you have your phone for at least 22 months (nothing to with service contract), you're eligible for up-grade (forget about the $100 credit or $50 rebate). When you do a phone up-grade (online, in store, or phone call), you'll have an option of choosing and EXTENDING your CONTRACT for 1-yr ($69.99), 2-yrs ($19.99) or no-contract (retail price...$169.99 I think???). That's how much you'll pay...just like any new customer...NOTHING is FREE...Oh and the tax will be calculated from the retail price. I've done it three tim...
