While it seems true that the phonebook cannot be transferred the Lexus GS software/interface does save the last 5 dialed calls and you CAN transfer numbers from this list to the One Touch dialing page. Lexus safety feature only allows calls WHILE you are driving from the one touch anyway, so now I can list the 17 numbers I call the most often and use them. This is adequate for me.

By the way, can you dial a new number by talking into your phone?

Yes, you can. You can say the name "home", or the phone number itself. There is also no training the phone as far as voice commands. You just press the lower right outside button and say "Call Home", then "yes" and it connects. Very nice feature.

Wow I will have to try that button while I am using the car bluetooth and see if it can go though the car
s system.

Not so fast - - - You are still screwed!!
Without a phonebook, your numbers placed into "One Touch" are just numbers - no name associated with it.
When the car is moving, the numbers disappear! If you had a phonebook, the name would stay displayed so you know which One Touch Icon to push.
I am going to have to buy a Cingular phone for a day to program it, pair it, transfer the phonebook to the car, and then return it. A phone book entered into the car can be used with any paired phone.

I did just find that all out, but for 17 numbers I can memorize which boxes they are in, and keep a diagram in the car just in case.
