Hi,
It appears from reading the description of the phone that each entry for a person will be separate entries instead of grouped together.
i.e John work and John cell will appear as two distinct entries.
If this is true, is there any way to change that setting and group all numbers under a single entry. I seem to recall from reading the v710 forum that this could be done.
Can someone confirm?
Thanks

Set your contacts to primary view. When you do this, each contact will only appear once on your contact list. Once you select the name you want you could hit the left arrow to see ather numbers or e-mails for this person.

Doesn't affect it at all. i use the voice dialing feature a lot because I am visually impaired.

I have been following this forum for about 3 months and just got the E815. Great phone BTW. The contacts were transported from a Audiovox to this one. How do I combine double entries with 2 or 3 number? I have set them to primary but nothing happens. I know I am doing something wrong, what is it?!
Thanks

Two parts to my question:
1. How did you combine after the transfer?
2. Were you able to group all numbers for one person under one listing? If so, how?
Thank you.

How do you set contacts to Primary View? (can't find that option anywhere?) Pls give me step by step instructions.
Also, how do I create a 'group'?

From the home screen, hit the right soft key to go to contacts. Once there, hit the menu button. Go to setup. Set view to primary and make sure its being sorted by name. You could highlight a phone number in your contact list, hit the menu button, and go to set primary to decide which is the primary number for that contact.
As far as groups, from the contact list, hit the menu button and go to categories. You'll be able to select which group you want to see. When you enter a new contact into your list, one of the fields is category. That's where you choose the category or group you want this contact in.

Honest question, no sarcasm intended, I promise. Why all the concerns about organizing contacts? I read a lot of negatives about this before I bought the phone and was concerned - thought it was going to be a major headache and almost didn't buy. Now that I have the phone, I can't see why I would ever need to look at the screen. The voice recognition is so amazing. Whichever way things are stored or organized, all you have to do is tell the phone a name or number to call, and it does it. Maybe I'm missing something. Just asking. 😕

One reason it matters is so that you can assign a single photo to a contact that will apply to all numbers. This is important when receiving calls from favorite contacts. This was easily done with my former Audiovox 9900.
I have not found a way to do this on the 815.
Does anyone know if the LG 8100 is organized like the 9900 or is it similar to the 815?
