815 and Bluetooth Problems

Okay so tonight I tried to connect my 815 to the Lexus RX330 (2005).. Links up just fine but no Phonebook. The Lexus has an option you can hit on the screen to put it into recieve phonebook mode. I do this but the 815 has no way to start sending ?? Any ideas..

Also, Call Waiting is a huge problem. You do not get call waiting on the Lexus Screen. You here the beep but you do not see who it is..

Bluetooth is proving to be an incompatible disaster. Cmon, I have a 2005 Lexus and a 2006 Range Rover in the business and neither works well..

This is not good

Any suggestions ?

If you read through the past threads, or search "Lexus", you will find much of this has been discussed!

In my opinion, the e815 is the best Verizon bluetooth phone for a Lexus, but you will never get a phonebook into the system. That requires OBEX profile which Verizon disables.

I plan to get a Cingular phone for a day or two and program a phonebook. After I enter it into the car it will be returned unless I can find one to borrow.

You have a choice:
Verizon network with no phonebook -or-
Cingular network with phonebook.

This is not a Lexus problem; this is not a Motorola problem, this is a Verizon restriction. Something about security concerns.

Yet another choice:

Get a used Siemens S56, Sony T68i, or the like off ebay. No need to activate it or anything; just make sure it has any old SIM card. You will then have a phone into which you can enter contacts and transfer the entire phonebook all at once.

Well, sort of. If BMW managed to fix this why can't the other manufacturers?

The best I could accomplish is to transfer numbers from the recent outgoing list to the one touch screen...at least on the GS that got me 17 numbers but you also have to memorize the positions each number is in. Fun fun fun.

I am going to test with the Treo 650 and I730 as well.. We have all these here to play with.

I am not very happy with the fact that the Caller ID on Call Waiting does not show up ??

Another Blue Tooth Gotcha !

It doesn't matter that you can't transfer the phonebook into the navigation system. You can only dial using the 1-touch buttons while you are driving in a Lexus. It's not that hard to set 18 1-touch locations of your most frequently dialed numbers. 😳

That is indeed true. However, without transferring the phonebook into the system, 1-touch only displays the numbers. After you transfer phonebook entries into 1-touch, the 1-touch numbers then display NAMES as well as numbers. I mean, without names associated with the numbers, 1-touch can be a little confusing. Even if you can easily associate all of the 17 1-touch numbers with names, it's still a LOT faster to have the names available in actua...

Yep. Basically editing a portion of the phone's nonvolatile memory.

I did it on my V710 and they're are already a bunch of people on Howard Forums that have done it on their E815s. Just involves a PC, some software (that you can download), USB cable, and a little patience.

Okay so a whole night of testing and more problems..

We took our E815 and the Tro 650 and the new I730 and a V710 and tried them tonight on the Lexus RX330 and the BMW645..

The BMW is totally bizarre.. It wants to pull the numbers down to the car each time you get in the car with a blue tooth phone. It worked once with the 710 and actually works decent with the Treo 650 but only pulls down the speed dials. The I730 will not work with it all and the 815 was not tested tonight.

The I730 works amazing with the Lexus. When I hit send phonebook on the lexus screen, you can take the I730 and Highlight all the names and hit send. The I730 sent all the names in no time over bluetooth and it was great. The problem is the Lexus is the wifes a...

I don't think hacking the 710 or 815 will change anything ?? Not sure why other people think so.. Apparently it's not Obex that is needed to send the phonebook. It's something else..

Anyone else have a new Lexus ?

I have a Prius which basically has the exact same system (Denso) that they jam into the Lexus models.

At this point, I have to assume you haven't touched either phone (in terms of doing a seem edit). However, there is nothing you can do, of which I am aware, that will enable phonebook transfer from your V710 to your Lexus. The phone simply never had the requisite profile (nor was it ever qualified with the same).

The reason I believe hacking the E815 MIGHT work is becaus...
