Has anyone found a way to use the MP3/midi files for ring tones off the transflash card like the V710 vs. saving them all to the phone? 😕

This is all from HoFO from Mark Venture - all credit to Mark 😁

FYI, I just did the following test, today, right now...

Visited... my ringer page... right clicked on 001_CTU24.mp3 and from the pop-up... clicked Save Target As... then in the "save as..." dialog box, change the "Save As Type" to ALL FILES and changed the file name in the box to CTU24.MID then pressed the "save" button.

Next, I opened my web browser and logged into my Gmail web mail account... I composed a new email to... [email protected]. In the subject: test ringer 1, in the body: test.. then attached the newly saved CTU24.MID and clicked send.

I waited... Took a few minutes, then the phone beeped that a message had arrived.

Yes there is a .25 charge for this. If you go to www.howardforums.com you will find the method for transfering MP3's for free to your phone and how to set as ringtones.

I was successful at emailing the MID tone to my phone. When I open the message, it does not give me STORE option and the attached file is not highlighted. Instead, I get a 1/2 page listing on top with page one having the email text and right scrolling to page 2 automatically plays the song. The right soft key only toggles between PLAY and PAUSE!! No STORE NO APPLY AS RINGTONE.
Did they upgrade the software?? what's the deal

Help would be greatly appreciated

Ok - I finally found this again - all credit to kilofox on Howard forums:

Old V710 Trick works on E815 for free custom ringtones.

--------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------

I tried this and it works for getting ringtone on to the 815. You need a TF card to do this.

First Compose a New Pix Message

Address it to some bogus number i.e. 222-2222

Then on the right softkey hit Insert

In Insert Options choose Sound .

Now you will be browsing your sounds on youf phone's main memory, you want to hit the Middle (Menu) Soft Key and Switch Storage Device .

Choose TRANS-T-FLASH

Browse to the sound on your card that you want to use as a ringtone and Insert .

Then select OK , then ...
