E815 without analog reception

I want to purchase the E815, but I'm not sure since it doesn't have analog. The V710 does.

My question is this: has anyone tried the e815 in areas like upper Michigan where most phones switch to analog? I'm wondering if the e815 gets reception in such areas? If so, then I'd get the E815. Although most people aren't concerned with this, some people will know what I'm talking about. I travel to these areas frequently, and don't want to lose reception that I currently get with my older and less expensive model Motorola.

Thanks for any info.

I don't live anywhere NEAR there, but if your current phone switches to analog, most likely this one won't get service. better to go with a phone like the v710 or the lg vx6100, if you want an upgrade and need the analog. I recommend the 6100, I own it and LOVE it 😁

I'm with you on this one. The lack of analog is what scares me about the E815. All else being equal, I'd much rather have analog than V-Cast. A Verizon salesman told me today, though, that by the end of next year, analog will be gone. I've heard so many stories about differing dates, though, that I don't know whether I can rely on his statement or not.

That's exactly where I'm at too howard. I use analog less and less as time goes by. However, when I do use it, its very helpful; usually out in the middle of no-where which is where I spend a lot of time as an outdoorsman.
Now, will the e815 digital signal be that much better than my current phone where it will use even less analog? Lots of questions like that, that keeps me unsure what to do. But I'm on the verge of buying the e815 anyway....

I had a VX4400 that switched to analog or dropped the call in a certain area. Drove through there with my 815 this morning and had 3 bars and not a problem with the call I was on. The e815 has a much stronger signal all around it seems.

Let me know what you do. I'm asking myself the identical questions that you're asking.

I live in Michigan and i go camping in upper Michigan and my all digital A840 phone does not lose signal it actually has a better signal than my V710 does i have 2 lines so I'm able to test both phones out at the same time. I have yet to test my E815 out in upper Michigan but i have had better luck with Digital phones than analog phones. Also i was a big fan of analog phones but it seems digital is doing a better job. I had the LG VX 6100 a couple of them actually not too hot of a phone good reception when your signal bars aren't bouncing like rubber ball and you aren't dropping calls like flies. Also Verizon just did a major tower update in the UP of Michigan for digital service. Analog is slowly being washed away.

No analog is a big plus as far as I'm concerned. Analog burns up battery time like crazy. You can't turn analog off on the v710 and when I am in a building with poor reception my battery only lasts about 1/8 the normal time. Not acceptible.
