e815 and my house don't mix - any suggestions?

I just got the e815. Wonderful phone.... except for one thing. When I use it at home, a good 15-20% of the conversation is obscured by dropout. I don't lose the signal or drop the call, I just have a lot of missing words, in both directions of the call.

I live in semi-rural NH, but get a digital signal. I have always had a good enough signal with Nokia phones to use them at home with no problem (even in the basement!), and my wife is currently using a Kyocera KX2 that works fine.

Earlier this year, I returned a V710 because that phone also worked poorly at home.

I know everyone raves about the RF on the e815. What could be different about my situation that causes Motorola phones to have problems? I'd rather find a solution and keep ...
