Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood
What to do? Trade e815 for VX8100 or not?
My issues with the e815
1. Earpiece in phone has terrible quality
2. Camera, viewfinder image looks great, when the picture is taken, quality diminishes.
3. Opening the phone doesn't have the "solid" feel I have been used to (with older Motos and LGs and Sammys).
4. Ability to apply pics as wallpaper, pics set to full screen get super pixellated and look terrible
5. Occasional "freezing" of phone when performing certain things like, deleting picture, pressing camera button.
I don't have a VX8100 to compare to as they are not yet released here. For people who have had the pleasure to compare the two, what would you do? Get the 8100 or stick with the e815??

Yes, but then you get the annoying bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
You have to resize pics to 176 x 220 pixels and they will fit perfectly with no pixelization or bars.
I have brought over pics from my old phone by doing this.
Here are my concerns - Are these standard? Can they be changed? Should I turn back my 815 and wait to see if they are fixed or get the 8100??
1) The vibrating feature sucks! I have missed two calls this morning when the phone was in my back pocket!!! I cant feel it when it vibrates!
2) the outside screen is not great
3) the battery life was not fabulous - I had it off battery save yesterday, did not spend A LOT of time on the phone, but did use the blue tooth feature and the battery was dying at the end of the day.
4) Internal monitor is good, but I am skeptical of the ...

As far as which phone to get, the problems with that one phone sound like they're all related to a bad phone, so I'd say wait for your replacement E815 to arrive and see how you like it...I think overall the E815's a far better phone, especially if you do a seem update and unlock OBEX and DUN and stuff...and who needs ugly stereo speakers on a cell phone anyway?
best option, call the vax stores around you, and ask if they have a demo of the 8100. Try it for yourself. I tried it and for me I decided to keep the e815. If i decided to exchange for 8100, I would be stuck with it and could not back to 815.
In the 815, speakerphone works with the phone closed

I use vibrate with it in my holster and I feel it fine without it buzzing enough that anyone around me hears it...I find holsters work best with phones on vibrate since in your pocket it's not actually pressed against you always, especially if you're walking...

Where can you get this seem update to enable OBEX? I already enabled DUN...
