Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the whole bluetooth headset thing (as I'm coming from Sprint). Anyways I got my Motorola HS850 and everything sounds good on my end but the person I'm speaking with on the other end is complaining that they can hear a really bad echo when they talk. Does anyone know what would cause this? It seems to happen on every call.

Thanks!

HI - It's not the Bluetooth, it's the phone - I had one that echoed and exchanged it and now no echo.

Well I might disagree with you on that. I have both the H820 and H850 . I have no issues with the H820 and nobody told me I sound like I have an echo. The H850 does have more static. I don't think I would change a phone because of the bluetooth device.

I had echo on both speakerphone and bluetooth headset - exchanged both. The new phone didn't echo in the store but now 2 days later it does (on caller's end.) Not yet sure abt the bluetooth. Turning down the volume seems to help, but I'm thinking this phone is just too full of problems. I just called VZ automated using my spkr phone and the call was so choppy, the voice recognition kept getting commands it didn't understand even when I wasn't speaking! I think I've had enough. I'm not too impressed with the battery either. If there's a better (extended) battery, why do they install an inferior one in the 1st place ($$$$)? 👿 Luckily I'm not locked into a contract yet.

I thought people were over exagerating until I just had one of my employees wear my headset and I called him. Wow...it is really bad. When I spoke into his phone my voice was repeated, like a robot. Are you sure it is the phone? Nothing else on my phone sounds like that...just the headset???

Can't be sure it is the phone but I've been reading the forums every day since the phone came out and lots of people have the echo. It happens when using speakerphone and sometimes w/headset. Did turning down the volume help?

I think it could be your phone, like the ones with defective speakerphones...though I still think that's a software problem since after I did the seem update the echo went away.

As for the HS850, people do think they're on speakerphone or something when I'm use it, like they do notice a difference between using the headset and talking on the phone itself...but no complaints of echos or anything of that sort.

Is there a simple way to do the seem update that might resolve the echo? Please don't send me to HoFo Instructions for "beginners" (NOT). I did key in the "enable DUN" but I don't have "My Bluetooth Places" on my PC so I couldn't do anything with it. If it's really complicated, never mind,...

The problem is not the phone. I tried three phones and the problem was duplicated on all three phones. It is not in the hardware but maybe software related and Verizon Tech Sup will not acknowledge it. It is too complicated for them. Motorola says the phone should not echoe at the other end. Keep complaining to Verizon and hold them accountable. They are responsible for the solution to this problem.
