I bought the Moto Mobile office kit and it does not recognize the 815 as a model. And just keeps trying to "initialize". I bought the one with the data cable.

You need to do a Live Update and then load the proper Driver for the 815.
The link you need for the driver and the instructions for doing all of this is in an earlier post.
Just do a search in this forum (search is at the top and bottom of the main page) for USB Driver and you will find it. 😉

You local verizon store is wrong. I just bought Mobile Phone Tools for my e815 through verizon myself ($40 for the software and the cable). Call verizon customer service and they can order it and ship it to you.
