Think about this.
Do you stare at the external screen as much as the internal? The external screen is primarily for time, date, status info, and of course, caller i.d. The battery life is already somewhat short, and a better res. external screen would make it even shorter. The visible time when dim is very nice in gray. I really think that Motorola put a lot of thought into this phone! Hey, at least you have a nice, big, crisp internal screen! Plus, look at all the features of this phone. Speakerphone when closed, answering when closed, MP3 player, transflash capabilities, etc........Not to mention call clarity and reception! What Verizon phone ha...

to me syncing the calendar was the most important thing to have. and after discovering the e815 can do that with my imac i'm inclined to switch from the vx8100 which i currently have.
however, that external display makes me want to hold on to it. i look at it constantly. it displays text messages when they arrive, you can view your missed calls and the entire call log, put a video on it. things that i would never have thought important are really cool to have. i wish it could do more. but nonetheless i find myself enjoying that screen a lot (and yes i have been staring at it too because it's so nice).
i understand your desire for a nice external screen, i guess we'll just have to decide which features are more important to h...

to clarify. the lg vx8100 cannot answer calls closed and i believe the motorola e815 can.
