Chargers

I have two cell phones. I have the V551 with Cingular and the E815 with Verizon. I just looked at the chargers and even though they look somewhat the same they have different power outage or outputs...

V551 output is 5.9V 375mA
E815 output is 4.6V 0.774A

Is it ok for me to charge my E815 with the V551's charger? or vice versa. It charges fine, but I'm afraid that this might damage the battery in the long run... Any suggestions?

Short answer I think is NO?

They have a different size of battery and you should charge each phone with it's intended charger.

One is a 820ma and the other a 1030ma.Just check the output listed on the chargers to make sureπŸ™‚

Actually though, if you get an extended battery, which has a different capacity, you don't have to buy a new charger, so the size of the battery might not matter either...

Good point Paul..........

Probably would just take slightly longer to get a full charge.......

If anything, I would think using a charger that has less output would be safer?

😳 Ok you just made me get up and go look. I just got back from a 9 day trip with my wife. We used her Motorola T720 charger for both our phones while on the road. The output for the
T720 is 5.9V 400mA.

I did not have any problem, but now you have me wondering if there is a potential for long term issues. Any Motorola experts want to answer this question?

It has been stated by CS that the chargers and all of the accessories for the 710 (also the 5.9V charger) would be fine to use on the 815. Let's hope they are correct.

Verizon store says the 720 chargers work on the 815. i have been using them, both the car and wall charger and they seem to work fine.

If Verizon says to use them, then i will use them! 😁

I called Motorola about the same issue a few days ago. I had noticed that the carger for my old v710 was different than the charger for my e815. The rep told me that the list of compatible chargers for these two phones are identical.
