Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

Is there anyway to make the background of the external screen blank. Personally I find the beach theme to difficult to read around. If not can I make my own background? If i can what are the dimensions for the internal and external background and what is the best way to get it onto the phone. Thanks.
