Well I just picked up my second E815 to try and hear this "perfect voice clarity" that so many people are speaking about. Yet the earpiece speaker still sounds distorted as if the speaker is junky at Volume 7 (the volume I would like to have it at.). I have heard a few people mention this issue and say to use Volume 4....well what is the point of 7 then, the volume that should suit me best. Also I heard a fe wpeople mention their sound quality was crystal clear even at 7. Time to get another one????? Thanks.

I have found many earpieces that sound good or bad with various phones. There may be an impedance mis-match. I would bet it is the earpiece, NOT the phone! 😉

Try one the earpieces that a salesman is using on his in the store and see.
🙂 Mine works good on 7!

What I meant by earpiece, was the phone's speaker by your ear...not an external headset, sorry for the confusion there. That's what leads me to believe that it is the phone 😉

Also, skorpyo31 mentioned that it seems to work fine on volume 4. The only thing is I work in a sometimes very loud area, so 7 is my best bet. But you are saying that all 5...

Yah, I was also frustrated at the ear-piece volume issue. Those that claim not to have the problem must just think that it's normal for the ear-piece speaker to sound pitchy with higher pitches and volume. I like what this phone offers. After reading the 8100 forums, it seems like we would be worse off with that phone and it's volume problems. Apparently, at times, one can't hear, or make out what the other party is trying to say. I am o.k with volume 4 on the E815. Occassionally I have to turn volume up to level 5, and over time, I have gotten used to the pitchiness. At least we can hear the other party on the higher volumes. I suppose it's a fair trade-off. 🙂

I've had 5 E815's. The ear-piece issue is consistent on all of them. 7 is pretty loud. Are you positioning the earpiece just right on your ear? I find 4 to be adequate, sometimes I have to turn volume down to 3. I use volumes 5-7 for the speaker-phone only. Hope this helps you. If you exchange your phone, I can almost guarantee you will have the same problem. If you don't, please let me know. Thanks!

I've also tried 5 different phones, and they all have that blown out speaker sound at a volume of 7, so I wouldn't waste time getting another one. I'm willing to put up with it because it rarely interferes with my ability to tell what the other person is saying.
