Anyone else not particularly impressed by reception of e815?

I'm not particularly impressed with the reception on my e815, especially after reading so many reviews about how wonderful the reception is. Frankly, I'm not sure it's getting any better reception than my LG 3200. The sound quality is definitely better. And I'll probably keep it because using the bluetooth headset with it gives good enough reception.

But the reception just doesn't seem any better in my room. I'll call verizon customer service and listen to the recording, and different words periodically drop out, just like with the 3200. I had someone tell me I was cutting out on them today. And this is the 3rd e815 I've tried, so it's not a broken phone.

I've heard all about raves about this phones reception - has anyone else had a si...

The great reception was probably the best thing about the phone. I had signal strength in places I never had it before, and the voice quality is very good. There's no such thing as the perfect phone, but this one had better reception than any of my other phones to date. Sorry you're having problems.

🙂 I have not had reception problems with my E815 except about 150 miles outside of San Antonio, Texas. We drove from Phoenix, AZ to an island 90 miles south of New Orleans, Louisiana and not had any problems.

In my office, home or car I've never had any dropped calls or missing words.

My only complaint is the vibrate mode is way too soft to be useful when attached to with the leather cover.

Doesn't get any better than this. I have a few phones and this by far is the best one yet.

Some of the perception of improved signal/reception compared to an LG or Samsung may be due to the way the signal strength meter reads on the e815. the 815 signal range in terms of a functioning phone is 1 to 5 bars. At zero bars there is loss of signal (no reception) and even Motorola states this. On an LG such as the vx8000 the functioning range on signal strength is 0 to 4 bars. The Samsung a670 works the same way. This means that equivalent signal strength between an vx8000 say at 2 bars would require the e815 to be 3 bars.
Some people think that 3 bars on the 815 is a stronger signal than 2 bars on an LG and it is not - its the same.
My family on the Verizon network has an a670, a vx8000 and a new e815. In the somewhat weak signal ...

What you said about the bars may be true, I don't know. My previous phone was an LG VX10. I can confirm the following, though: my E815 does indeed get about "1 bar more signal" than my VX10 did in my home, BUT this is supported by lack of actual signal loss.

In other words, my VX10 would regularly drop calls in my house (very weak signal area) and would also go on and off the network when idle. I don't have this problem with the E815.

Whether or not this applies equally to a different LG model, I have no idea.
