Echo!

I have been using this E815 for the last 5-6 days and exchanged for another new handset once already. I have been noticing annoying echo during conversation, I don't know if anyone else have the same problem. Feedback highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i get the same exact thing. it is driving me crazy!! i went back and the E815 that verizon has on display allows you to make a call. it too had the annyoing problem you refer to. i had the sales guy listen, and he agreed that it was really annoying. i think all E815s have this problem, but i don't think it annoys everyone as much as it does you and me. i think since it is such a great phone otherwise, people ignore it....but i can't. i'm going to switch to a moto 710 or a lg vx 6100 (i don't trust the 8100 after reasding that forum).

Hello!

Is your echo when using Bluetooth or just the regular handset?

My E815 causes an extreme echo to the person who calls me when I have it connected to my wife's truck using the Bluetooth portion of her Nokia CK-7W car kit (wired and Bluetooth kit). When she has her non-BT Nokia 3588i in the cradle, there is no echo on the caller's end or on our end. If we pop out her phone and hook up mine via BT, the caller gets a strong echo back of every word said. I hear a slight echo on my end of every few words, but not the whole conversation.

I went to a cellular repair shop and the tech told me that Bluetooth, when used with a CDMA system, allocates half the BT bandwidth to data and half to voice. He claims that is what makes the BT ech...

I understand your problem completely. My last Sprint phone I could not hear myself while talking on the phone normally. Now with the E815 I hear myself and if I am in a loud enviroment it is very hard to hear the other person.
I took my phone in to exchange and tried the servicemans E815 and it was the same. I believe it is the way the phone is made. I wish you could just change it so that you could not hear yourself at all while talking.
I did notice if I didnt talk so close to the mic and not so loud (which is a problem for me) it was better.

Keep in touch. I do love the phone though.

As my post below (UPDATE) states my replacement 815 is fine so far. MOTO stated that the issue was related to delayed speech on one end.

Him interesting. So they are admitting to a problem with the phones?
I have sent in my rebate so verizon is not doing a complete exchange for my phone. Did you have any problems exchanging your phone?

Thanks..

Not really. I first echanged the 8100 for the E815 ..no problem other than loosing my photos and videos.

yesterday when I exchanged my E815 for another E815 I did not realize I needed the entire box etc since it was the same phone. The night before they did not tell me that I needed the box. I had to go back home to get the material and the exchange went through smoothly.

I even got VZW to credit me the charges required to upload and download the pictures and videos from my one phone to either my computer or my new phone.

hmm Interesting. So they just swapped out hte phone and nothing else?

And did the verizon store you go to actually say that they have heard other people complaining about the same problem?

The stores are new to this phone and apparently have not heard much regarding the echo issue for either the 815 or the 8100. Per my other post I spoke with MOTO who stated ignorance on the echo issue as well. That is no to say that they had not heard any complaints but rather it did not rise to a large enough number to do anything about it at this time.

On the second exchange they swapped out everything even though it was a 815 for another 815. They need the box with the codes on it as well as paperwork etc.

Was your box still intact or did you send in your rebate?

I did not send in the rebate and the box was in good shape. I did not want to send in the rebate until I finalized my decision to keep the 815 model even if I might later exchange the specific phone due to a defect.

I would imagine that VZW would allow an exchange even if you sent in the rebate and work out the finanical credits and debits.

Erik,
Just wanted to let you know, that even though you have removed your UPC, you can still get a new 815 up to 30 days for defect issues, after that they will only give you a refurbished one. Just make sure you tell them you want a NEW one since your within the first 30 days. The only way you couldn't do this in the first 30 days is if you tried to switch to a different model altoghether, that you can not do. Hope this helps.
