New Verizon policy regarding changing price of your plan
I just got off the phone with Verizon customer service regarding price of plans.
When I had AT&T, I could change the cost of my plan and the number of minutes included, without any prorating of minutes and without extending my contract. That was the best, and dang near only, thing I liked about AT&T (free inbound text messages was the other thing). As long as I kept the same type of plan, I could move up or down in cost and number of minutes without any problem. I could change it up or down each month if I wanted to do so.
Now, according to this rep, Verizon is doing the same thing. For example, I have the America's Choice plan for $59.99 that gives me 900 minutes. My plan starts over each month on the 4th. If I look at my minutes on the 3rd and realize I have used 1200 minutes, and if I call before the 4th, I can change my plan up to $79.99 for 1350 minutes, and it does not extend my contract, nor is it prorated. The change is retroactive to the first day of the billing cycle, just like AT&T did, as long as I keep the same type of plan, i.e., I still keep the America's Choice plan, but only with more minutes (or less minutes if I know I will not need the 900 minutes).
AWESOME move Verizon. If it is true, this kills one of my major gripes about Verizon's policies.
Great news!

I just called back and they said the above is true only if you are going up in minutes.
If you go up in minutes, the change is retroactive to the first day of the billing cycle.
If you go down in minutes, it is prorated. So if you know you are going on vacation for half the month and won't be using the phone much, I guess you could make the change on the first day of your billing cycle.
