E 815 Battery is HORRIBLE

đŸ˜ĸ I read all of your reviews about the E815 and was thrilled to buy it. The phone does everything you guys said except the battery is horrible. I got this phone last friday and already had to charge it sat, sun, tuesday, thursday and again saturday night. granted the charging of the battery on sat and sunday was because I was playing with the camera and putting in all of my phone numbers. NOTE: Each time the phone said LOW BATTERY and I charged it until it said CHARGE COMPLETE.

But the phone will have 2 bars of battery life left and then the next thing you know is its beeping saying LOW BATTERY. Does anyone else have this problem? My wife's E815 does the same thing and she doesn't have a clue how to play with the camera and other stu...

yeah the battery life is my only complain about the phone. I went to sleep and the phone had two bars and when I woke up the phone had turned off because the battery had died. I don't mind charging it often. The phone only takes a couple of hours to charge, no biggie. To me atleast.

Maybe your suppose to do the whole letting the phone run out of battery than charge it to its fullest a few times. I did that and I have no problems with the battery.

I just found out that in the Bay Area (where I live) EDVO is in a testing stage so the phone is constantly switching between EVDO and 1X which is causing the batter to drain faster.

places where EVDO is not available yet people are having problems with their batteries because their phone is constantly switching from EV to 1X.

Verizon didn't tell me that EVDO wasn't available in my area so I had no idea I'd have a problem with the battery.

the phone is awesome, and once you disable the EVDO (look at other posts on this thread) the battery lasts for a long time.

My battery also lasts for a long time when I'm in an area where EVDO is fully operative. It's only a problem in areas which are in the process of switching to EVDO.

As for the effect of bluetooth on battery power, I enable bluetooth when I get into the car and disable it when I leave the car. I figure that will minimize the battery drain caused by bluetooth. To reduce the difficulty in doing this, I created a shortcut to the bluetooth power off-on menu.

It's even easier to set a shortcut to "Handsfree" where you can "Temporarily Power On" Bluetooth.

When you turn off your car, it automatically times out and turns off the Bluetooth after 4-5 minutes. If it's a quick stop (7-11, post office, etc.) you don't have to manually turn it on again, even if you turn off your ignition.

My phone did the same thing too this morning. I had 2 bars left when I went to sleep. 6 hours later when I woke up, the battery indicator was beeping. Did you have your EVDO disabled? My phone flashes between EV and 1X. đŸ˜ŗ

I have no battery life issues. How's the signal at your house?

My building at work gets VERY weak signal, if at all, and I get 2 days of life from a full charge, depending on use. That's about 17 hours standby and about 1 hour talk (including lunches), but I'm also in and out of the building, the rest of the places I go are with decent signal. My first charge was 6-7 hours overnight with the phone off, so have all the rest now that I think of it. Even though the phone says it's done charging, it may still trickle charge it. My initial charge was at the suggestion of people on this site.

FYI, I went a week without a charge while on vacation last month. I was in a decent signal area, put about 120 mins. of talk time on it and playe...

FIX FOR PROLONGING BATTERY LIFE

by skorpyo31 Friday, 11:53 PM

I found this link in the E815 section of howardforums.com.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=688023 »

I live in the bay area and EVDO is in testing mode. The 1X and EVDO alternate often, thus draining batery quicker than normal.

I charged my phone last night and have talked approximately 2 hours since then, and I still have 2 bars left! The good thing is that I would normally be down to 1 bar by now. The two bars I have remaining occured after the two hours of talking, and have held steady for several hours. I will give an update within the next few days. Your results can be even better if you talk less!

Thanks!!!

I was worried I'd mess up my phone, but as long as you're careful and press the correct buttons you'll be fine!

my phone was stuck in test mode for a while because the guy didn't post how to exit it (someone later in the thread did) after that it was all good and now my phone doesn't bounce between 1x and evdo

The 11 days of standby time is how long your phone will last if you don't use it at all.

Frankly, since it sounds like you've only had to charge your phone every other day, your battery life sounds fine.

OK, here is MY theory... it's the bluetooth that is causing the trememedous drain... how many of you that are complaining use bluetooth? my theory is even when the bt isn't being used, it drains the battery at an alarming rate just being in the on position ☚ī¸

so tell me please, how many complainants have bt on? I use BT fulltime and my battery life has been between 50min-120min talktime, both way shy of the 280min claimed

Just fyi - I leave bluetooth on all the time, and I have *no* complaints about batter life. The battery definitely lasts more than an hour.

😁 I live in Scottsdale/Phoenix which is an EVDO area and have had NO problem with battery life. Must admit I do not use Blue Tooth so I do not know what effect that would have. Talk and stand by for me averages 4 to 5 days between charges.

After posting steps to disable EVDO to stop flashing(EVDO in test mode in bay area)and experiencing the benefits of the longer battery life, here are my latest results.

I charged the battery fully Sunday afternoon. I haved talked several hours since then, down to 2 bars as of Tuesday, still using phone with 2 bars today(Wednesday)! 😁

Without EVDO disabled, I would have averaged 1 day! đŸ˜ĸ

Because I wasn't one to immediately go out and upgrade my phone from the V710 to the E815. Verizon offered me a free upgrade and I still declined it. I am happy with the 5 hours I get from my v710 with the extended life battery no EVDO to drain. Besides, I notice people are turning off their EVDO features through a hack but what's the point of having a E815 if you don't have EVDO. Oh well, I will still continue to enjoy my V710 without the headaches thank you very much.

Sometimes bigger is not always better.........

😁 I'm in an EVDO area even thought I don't use it. The E815 gives me great reception and volume. The keypad makes the V710 feel like a child's toy and the 1 GB memory is very appealing for my MP3s. 😎
