Verizon in-calling quality

I just bought two Motorola e815s (one for me and one for my wife) and am really impressed with the sound quality for the most part.

When I make calls to land lines or other cell phones (non-Verizon phones) the call quality is very good, almost as good as a land line. But when I make a call to my wife's e815 from my e815, the call quality is noticeably worse. Sounds like it's overly compressed or like the other caller is talking into a can. BTW, I'm located in the Baltimore/Washington DC area.

I have done the following to both phones with no real resolution to the problem:
1. Called *22890
2. Called *18
3. Called *228
4. Switched EVRC to 13K (didn't really notice any difference).
5. Turned off EVDO.

No "echo" problems on either...

No one else has reported this problem. Maybe you should take both phones to Verizon and let them see if it is a problem with one of your phones. They may need to re-program it or exchange it.

This is a Customer Service problem, let them handle it! 😉

I can certainly take them both back and have Verizon look at everything.

So you're telling me that everyone has land line quality when they call from one cell to another? Or does everyone's e815 just sound like a really, really good cell phone during a call?

I'm asking because I've never really heard a good cell phone until the e815. The quality from cell to land line is truly outstanding. Just not sure if I'm expecting too much out of Verizon when the calls are from cell to cell.

Cell to cell will always be a little bit worse than from cell to land line because you are dealing with a LOT more variable that neither you, Verizon or any carrier can control, ie. obstacle interference, tower location, either party moving and switching towers, signal strength on both ends, cell phone quality on both ends, headset quality if using one, bluetooth problems, wind or outside noise...........and the list goes on.

If he quality you are getting is good, and is acceptable to you, well, what more can you ask for.............it's a cell phone! 🙄
