tf card and mp3's

I have an e815 and just purchased a transflash card with the intention of using the built in mp3 player. I formatted my card and I am able to transfer pictures from my computer to the phone via the transflash card. However, I am unable to save any songs from my computer to the transflash card. When I try to play it in the phone under sounds my transflash card comes up empty. Any ideas as to what the problem may be would be greatly appreciated.

Could be the song titles are too long, try file names < 12 characters. If that doesn't work may want to search this forum to get some other ideas.

I made sure that the titles were less than 12 characters, and that failed to work. Is there a certain file extension I should use? When I renamed it as a .mp3 file, it showed up on the tf card in the phone, but said that the file was corrupt. I've searched all over this forum, and I was unable to find any solutions to this problem.

MP3 format should work. Might try starting over, reformat card in phone, transfer new MP3s from your PC to card. Not sure if it matters but I stored my under Shared Audio folder on card. Load card back into phone and see what that does. If that doesn't work maybe there's a defect somewhere.

name of the mp3 files needs to be less than 8. And you need to move the files to the right folder I think you should see a folder called audio

The problem is the folder you have the songs in. The length does not matter if you are only using the file to play the MP3. If you want to use the file as a ringer, its file name length must be 8 or fewer characters before the .mp3. Anyway, the correct folder, I believe, is shared\audio. If you have it in the sounds folder, that would be the problem. Good luck. Hope that helps

I think I figured out my problem. The songs that I was transfering were in wma format instead of mp3. So I feel pretty stupid. So, my final question would be, is there any way to change the format of songs from wma to mp3? Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Sure....there are many conversion programs on the market. Just do a Google search and you should be able to find one that you like. 🙂

The most current version of Windows Media Player lets you rip to create MP3s I believe. For other free programs try www.downloads.com.
