Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood
Data Cable/Drivers/software-I have cable--but question...
Sorry for the repeat post--I originally entered the question in the wrong forum.
Hi, I HAVE a data cable from Mobilesandpdas.com (ebay) The guy swears that the cable works--but the software link they provide does not contain the drivers for this phone. (their response is they've sold 100's --and all work! Their offering a refund--I don't want a refund--I want it to work!)

OK---What am I missing??
The link (they provide for the drivers) points me to a zip file which expands into a setup program. I run this setup and it runs/installs and appears ok--yet when I plug the phone in, the PC says new hardware found and looking for a driver. NOWHARE is the actual driver! The phone shows up in device mangr but with the explanation point! and says it wont work.'(BTW--SAME results on 2 pc's and 2 OS's!! (98/SE and XP)
Does anyone know where the actual Driver is for this cable/phone.
Finally--what software can I use to Download and upload info from the phone?

Do a search in this forum for "USB Driver" and you will find the instructions and the link to the correct driver and how to properly install it.
You also need to do a Live Update of the software and the instructions are also listed.

DUH! (sorry--why didn't I think of that) I guess I was hung up on the "drivers" I was (supposedly) sent.
Anyway--I did as you suggested and found a DL (for the USB/serial driver) that exploded into ALOT of files. Plugged in the phone and pointed the "new hardware found" to the expanded directory. It found a driver and the phone appeared to be in device manager cleanly.
Then--(thru reading this forum) I "found" and DL'ed Mobile Phone Tools. I DL'ed and installed the package.
NOW my problem is that MPT can't find the phone --(Durning the initial setup and also then I get a picture of the phone--which just keeps saying "initilizing") and also the "E815" doesn't show up in device manager now. (??) I DO see a Motorola modem--which...

You need to do a search in THIS forum and get the RIGHT driver! The search block is at the top and bottom of the main page.
Type in "USB Driver" and it should be MY posting with the CORRECT driver and instructions on how to install it and update MPT. Most likely the 3rd posting down on the search.
When you do that, everything will work. Just follow the instructions EXACTLY as I have them listed. 😉
But first, you need to uninstall MPT and delete the driver you are using out of the Device Manger since you have some BAD stuff in there! ☹️
