Why Can't I Copy Sounds From the Flash Card to the Phone's Memory?

I just upgraded from the v710 to the e815 and i am very happy especially with the difference in the screen quality, however there is one major difference that has me pretty ticked off. On the v710 i had the ability to take a sound file from my computer i made and add it to the trans flash card i had in my memory reader and from there place it in my phone and copy the sound file from my card to the phone's memory. With this i could apply the sound file as a ring tone or an alert. (example i had "I got mail, Yaaa I got mail" from the crank yankers applied as my inbox mail alert). Now on the 815 Verizon crippled the ability to copy the sound file from the card to the phone's memory so all you can do is listen to the sound file from the card thu...

You can do something called a "seem edit" on the phone to let you copy it. Or, if you have the cable, you can use a program called bitpim to copy the sound over (without having to mess with the software on the phone).

If you have copied ringtones from your pc to the flashcard can you use those ringtones on your phone without bitpim or seem edits?

Yes,,,,,,,,,you can screw your phone up REAL BAD if a seems edit goes wrong, and it normally can not be reversed. Unfortunately Verizon will not replace it since you have done an unauthorized modification to your phone. ☹️

But, if you want to try, here is the link on how to do it. You can decide if it sounds difficult! 😉

Good Luck! And be Careful! 🤣

The easiest way to get the cable for bitpim is to buy mobile phone tools from verizon. It comes with the cable, which you can use with bitpim.

For bitpim, you also might need to see this page:

I had to replace the usbser.sys file on my windows machine to be able to browse pictures...it sounds scary, but I haven't had any problems whatsoever. At the very worst, it could just mess up usb communication and you would have to copy the old files back.

I think bitpim is the safest route to go.

P.S. Actually, come to think of it, the safest route would be to just pay verizon their $0.25 per message and send yourself those ringtones.
