hello there. I currently just bought a usb cord with a motorola installation cd. Both are installed and everything is connected. The cd has a program called Multimedia Studio where u can take music from your PC, edit it, to less than 30 sec and transfer it to your phone.(motorola e815) I've tried making the file an mp3 and wav but when i click to transfer it, i cant because a sign says Unsupported Format, Cannot transfer. I've also tried the walmart trick and the email comes through but i dont hear anything. Please help me out here. Thank you verrry much.

Download this program
http://www.ne.jp/asahi/cool/kish/pplusmain.htm »

it will enable you to change the file extension from .mp3 to .mid via right-click and then once you send to your phone you will hear the music and be able to save as a ringtone. You can download from walmart.com and rename to the name of the song. Save as .mp3 from walmart's site and then use the aforementioned program to change from .mp3 to .mid
Hope this helps!

i just tried downloading the link and a sign pops up and says "This system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications." I have windows xp and it seems this is a program made for old versions. What should i do? Thanks

all you have to do is click the MP3 file on your computer and change the file extension to .MID (normally not a good idea to change file extensions) but it works perfectly in this scenario. I also couldn't get MP3's on my phone, they were all converted to .QCP files when emailed from funformobile.com. When I sent them through regular email they were saved as MP3's, but could only be stored on the phone NOT used as ringtones (I am pretty sure the only way to have the option to save an MP3 as a ringtone that is mailed to your phone is if you have VCAST for some strange reason...though don't hold me to that).
Anyway, just changing the extension from .MP3 to .MID works fine...at least it did for me. (by the way, uppercase or lowercase does not...

that VCAST thing actually seems true. I had the free VCast thing going for the first 30 days and during that time I was able to use an MP3 as a ringer, then once I cancelled VCast I was no longer able to. Either way, just change the extension and you should be fine.

when you are in the folder you have to go to tools->folder options->view tab->uncheck "hide file extensions for known file types" after you do this it will show song.mp3 You want to right click that file and rename the .mp3 to .mid
If you downlaod the program I linked to earlier in this thread it will put a "properties plus" shortcut in the right click window where you can change the extension of 1 or more files at once.

If you are on a windows computer, make sure you can view file extensions in folder view (Windows Explorer or My Computer, etc.) by going to one of those, then Tools>Folder Options>View>Hide extensions for known file types, and make sure there is NO checkbox there. Then go back to your .MP3 file, rightclick it, and hit "rename". Change the last three letters after the period (the file extension) from .mp3 to .mid.
