Can someone tell me how the He__ to get this piece of sh___ phone to work with Mobile Phone tools. I have now spent about 15 hour trying every FU_____ thing that I can to get this Piece of sh____ to work. Yes I am VERY VERY mad. I did EXACTLY as was said to do on page 6 posting by jimspobox. I down loaded USB drivers and the MPT program, and did a live update, unzipped the files. Still there is no place where the computer can find the driver for the phone. I know i did everything correct because I tried it three times. Yes I did uninstall the files before trying to reinstall the stuff. What in the he__ can I do now. I am not a dumb A__ so this should not be this hard. This is unbelievable that something this easy will not work for me but a d...

You said that you did everything correct but you also said that "there is no place where the computer can find the driver for the phone".

Since I don't know what you actually did or what step you did wrong, but it seems obvious you did not install the driver using the "Device Manager". If you do that, it will load the driver after you have "pointed" it to the file that you downloaded.

I suggest you print out the instructions again and make sure you totally understand them and follow each step.

Believe me, it WORKS! 🙂

Where did you get the Motorola Phone Tools program? Did it update to the newest version? If so, what version does it report?

If you get it to work, please let us know where you went wrong so it will help o...

Hi Thanks for getting back so fast. I followed your instructions to the letter. I printed them out and went step for step. My version of MPT is 3.25b dated 4/8/2005. I went to the device controler and my phone is listed with the yellow mark on it so I went to device manager selected the phone number went to proerties then driver and told it to update driver and pointed it to where I had unzipped the usb driver file. I keep getting told that it can not find the driver and askes if I want to select it manually, when I tell is yes it shows other devices and my phone modem inside my computer. I am using Windows 98se and I wonder if this is causing any troubles. When I ordered the cable I was also sent a disc that was suppose to include the drive...

It appears that you may still be doing a couple of steps wrong.

Some of my concerns are that you said you selected the "phone number". I don't know where the phone number came from since it should not know of any phone number! It should say only USB modem at the most.

If it has a phone number in there, I would delete that (using Device Manager) and any other driver you tried to load and do it over. Reboot after deleting the driver.

You then said you pointed it at the file and it could not find it and asked you to find it manually. You should be selecting to find it manually FIRST, the box may also ask you if you have the disk, click yes and point it at the file. See below for the proper way to find the folder you need from t...

Hi, I knew that my wording would screw you up. 😲 😲 🙄 When I said the phone number showed up I ment that "Motorola 815" showed up in device driver and it was listed under others on the device manager not under modems. When I went back to control panel an selected modems it showed the Motoloa 815 under that. Anyway my son just install it on his computer exactly like I did and it worked fine so it is something in my computer that is screwed up. I think now that I got rid of the driver under modems under the control panel it should pick up the right driver.I will just keep trying and see what happens. My son had to take the cord with him to his moms to play with for tonight so I will wait. Thanks so much for your help and trying to g...

Thaks you so much for this. I had looked at this link before and since it said I needed Windows XP I did not use it. My son installed things on his computer just like I did and it worked fine so I will just keep hacking away until I get it. Something with my computer. I think I found something because under device manager the Motorola 815 showed up under others not modems then under control panel it did show up under modems so I hope that I got this corrected. Thanks for your help.

I think you are on the right track. I think you have some corrupted files in there from a wrong installation.

Hopefully just deleting all the devices in the Device Manager that has anything to do with the 815 or USB modem will do the trick so you can re-install from a "clean" position and it will work.

Let us know the outcome.

After reading you're on 98SE - I believe that's the problem. MANY usb devices that function w/XP won't work with 98...I didn't even know that E815 drivers EXISTED for Windoze 98! If you can use a friend's computer (or better yet, upgrade your OS) I am willing to bet you'd be peachy keene.

If you want the CORRECT driver for MPT, go to this link and follow the instructions EXACTLY on how to install it and set up MPT. You should have it up and running in a few minutes.
