Bad echo on the 815

toolbox

My 815 works perfectly until I put it on speaker phone. It gives a terrible echo to the person on the other end and makes conversations almost impossible. Verizon says it is not fixableand to wait for the upgrade of the 815 in the future. Any ideas on how to fix this echo problem now?

Hey Rino1425. I got my first 815 in early August. It was replaced last week, the replacement was repaired yesterday and I still get a bad echo. The echo is for the person speaking to me. They hear their voice back as a confusing echo and we have difficulty having a conversation as a result. Any input on how to fix it? Also, what is the new update? I have done*228 updating and the phone was re-programmed at the Verizon shop yesterday. Nothing helps. ☚ī¸

I'm not aware of any updates tothe software of the 815, you may want to have a Verizon tech "flash" the software on the phone. It takes about 45 minutes and it simply reloads the software onto the phone, in case something didn't format or configure properly the first time. You may also want to check to make sure you don't have the volume on the speakerphone set too high - try lowering it and see if that helps.

Just some food for thought...

Really?-- can you post the new software release and what it's supposed to fix. Is it available to the public yet? It doesn't block any of the features on the phone (such as making your own ringtones)?

Thanks!

VZ has reloaded the software. I also tried lowering the volume. Neither thing helped the problem. The only time the phone worked with no echo was when it was not on speaker or when it was on the wired earpiece. I did find that the problem went away (at least for now) when I connected the wire earphone piece to the phone for a few days. I disconnected it just for curiousity one day and the echo was gone! So far, it has not come back.
