Poor Sound Quality

I am on my second E815 and have been very dissapointed with the sound quality of the calls. I am really bothered by the fact that I hear myself while talking on the phone. It sounds like an echo but not like the echo with speakerphone. It sounds like I am talking into a tin can. I traded in my first phone and the second phone is even worse than the first. I am not sure if I should try another E815 or try the 8100 or A950. I had a 3 yr old A500 samsung from sprint and I wish I still had it. The call quality was sooo much better than this phone.
Does anyone else have this problem or know of something that I can try to fix this problem. Thank you.

press this button sequence:

menu + 0 + 73887*

enter security code 000000
press ok

you are now in the secret programming menu. scroll down to where you see vocode. change it from EVRC to 13K. that may or may not help. let me know if it helps your problem.

Tracy--I'm lost too! I know there's a menu button on the keypad at top center (with the lines on it, doesn't say Menu". But when I press 0, I just get invalid entry. I think we need the "How to fix the echo problem for dummies", telling us extra keystroke, and where to press OK or send.

I know where the menu button is--it's the center top button on the phone. But, if I press Menu, then 0, I get "invalid entry".
Is there something we're doing wrong here?

By the way, I've tried the LG8100, Sams A950, and none can match the consistenly good sound quality of the E815. I've been an LG fan for years, but, I have reluctanty accepted the fact that Motos E815 is probably the best phone Verizon offers for reception and call clarity.
