Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood
e815 and USB data cable connection
Folks,
Okay, got my trusty USB data cable off of ebay. However, I can't seem to get BitPim or PhoneTools to talk to my e815.
Here's what I've done.
1. Followed Phonetools installation process to the letter (version 3.2😎.
2. I turned on dial-up networking on the phone.
3. XP installs the drivers for the phone, as a modem, and it is assigned a COM port.
4. However, no data communication with the phone seems to be taking place.
Any suggestions? How can i tell if its a cable, phone, or XP issue? Thanks!

It is neither of the 3. Try again? It is a Verizon ISSUE Apparently the informed Motorola to cripple the phone so phone tools won't work with the E815. This is what I ha...

In bitpim, I had to manually select the com port for the phone, it couldn't detect it automatically. And even then, I could only use the filesystem view.
