Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood
Upgrade Time :(
Well, I think its time for me to upgrade, my phone is beat up and showing its age. I love Motorola and my v710 has been nothing short of awesome. The only short comings I see from the v710 are the camera (rarely used, but a nice novelty to have), and the battery life (previous phones, i710, v400, v300, and couple other Cingular TDMA Nokias). The durability has been outstanding (dropped it so the bottom half fully submerged in the puddle and it still works perfectly), and it holds a signal better then my other Verizon phones (business phone, and my mother's).
I want to stick with Motorola, since their phones have been so good to me, so I see my options are the new RAZR and the e815 if I want to keep a high profile phone. I've read a lot of bad and good things about the e815, and nothing but complaints about the RAZR (I'm assuming thats because it just came out.
Can anyone that has experience with the phones tell me about the e815 and RAZR (posting in those forums as well). My main concerns are signal and battery. Everything else isn't important. A better camera would be nice, but I'm not making it a priority. Any suggestions to move to a LG or Samsung will be ignored, I'm simply not interested in those brands.

I took the E815 with new every two as an upgrade from my V710. The E815 ia a great phone. Great reception, great bluetooth, great signal. Tha camera is not important to me. IMHO the E815 is the best Moto ever offered by Verizon. Go for it. 😁 😁

If its all about signal an' battery fo' you, then the 815 is the clear choice.
From what I've read (an' I've read a lot), both the 815 an' the RAZR have very good reception, but the 815 has the edge in battery life.
Tho' I do hear its a good idea with both the 815 an' the RAZR to turn off the EVDO if your not usin' it.. this will increase battery life a lot.

I'd wait until after CES next week. They may be some big announcements for Moto. I think that is where they annouced the E815 last year.

I just returned my RAZR for the E815. I must admit the RAZR sure was a sexier device but it was poorly put into service. The bluetooth on it kept dropping connections and you would have to sometimes re-pair the device or turn the phone on/off. The menu system is also very poor. Plus the issues with the loose keypad. I really wanted to like that device but the bluetooth issue was just too much. You can read more about the bluetooth issue at Howard Forums. It doesn't seem to be isolated and it will probably be months before Verizon/Motorola get their act together on a software update. This is assuming it is a software update.
