Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

Hello! I am another who is trying to decide b/t the E815 and the LG 8100.

Here is my question: How is the external display on the E815 compared to the external display on the V710? I know the V710's was very "blocky" looking and was wondering if the E815 looks pretty much the same way.

For those of you who have done seem edits to your phones, I have a few questions for you.

1. After I'm done doing seem edits to my E815, will I have to flash back the original seem before I get my phone's software updated?

2. If I leave them alone, will my edited seems still work after my phone's software has updated?

Okay so tonight I tried to connect my 815 to the Lexus RX330 (2005).. Links up just fine but no Phonebook. The Lexus has an option you can hit on the screen to put it into recieve phonebook mode. I do this but the 815 has no way to start sending ?? Any ideas..

Also, Call Waiting is a huge problem. You do not get call waiting on the Lexus Screen. You here the beep but you do not see who it is..

Bluetooth is proving to be an incompatible disaster. Cmon, I have a 2005 Lexus and a 2006 Range Rover in the business and neither works well..

This is not good

It looks like they disabled the DUN from the E815. I currently have the un-updated original V710 and I think I will keep it. Looks like my V710 original has far more features than the E815. I still have my DUN, my file transfer from phone to Transflash (pics and MP3s), and my Analog signal (which came in handy in Philly at the Live 8 event where all the digital lines were maxed out a few times).

This phone is a downgrade!

PS, I am just as pissed at the Samsung i730 for no DUN either. The Audiovox PPC6600 has DUN for both 1XRT and EVDO!

I have ordered my 815 through Verizon's website and wondered if the TF card can be read in a 12-in-1 card reader rather than a TF specific reader?

WITHOUT hacking the phone, is there a way to change the Start Up / Shut Down screen? On my old phone (LG V6000) you could use your own pix for this. Thanks!

Forgive me if this has been covered but it is not obvious to me, what phone tools kit will work with the E815 and where do I purchase it. I bought the one for the V710 at Verizon and was curious to know if they will be coming out with a separate version for the E815. Also, I am interested in syncing outlook with my phone, is "phone tools" what I need? Thanks in advance.

I have tried the ImToo 3gp Converter and they seem to play in quicktime just fine. However, when I load them on my TF card, It plays all chopped up on the phone.

What converters are you guys using and how is it done properly?

does the e815 have a seem 041a.. If it does I think I may have over wrote it with 2742 doing a restore of the original 2742. wasn't paying attention when putting back the original. let me know and I can probably get it off of another e815

I have 128 mb TF card. I converted my mpg movies To Mpg4 using Quicktime 7. Now, My question is :
1. Which Mp4 format is the right one?
2. Do I put it on Mpeg-4 improved or basic?
3. Which is the right image size? cif,Qcif,Qvga?
4. Whats the best frame rate? 24 or 30

The movies I converted plays fine, but no sound. I dont know whats the problem and Verizon Tech support sucks. They dont have a clue!
I heard that E815 supports 3gpp also, but, I not sure which one? Is someone kind enough to break it down?Quicktime 7 also converts to 3gpp, but it ask me which one do I want, and thats where I get Stuck.

I'm interested in purchasing this phone and being stupid i was wondering what the data cable would do for me. I'm not into that whole seem edit thing cause i don't want to ruin a brand new phone but would a data cable allow me to send pix/flix to my computer?

Help please. I have the 815 and "professional install car kit". I can not turn my phone off when it is in the car. It turns off for about 3 seconds and then turns back on. The same is true if I have it plugged into the wall charger at home. When nothing is providing power to it (nothing plugged into the base) it will turn off fine. I have the car settings set to zero delay to turn off and no charging time.

Any help is welcome.

I just bought this phone on Sunday. I switched from a Motorola Timeport. So far, I really like the phone a lot. That being said, I was wondering if anyone has experienced where the clock on the phones falls an hour behind the actual time? If I shut the phone off and turn it back on, it updates correctly, but I can't figure out what's going on. Any ideas?

Do you like the looks of the E815 or V710 better? Do you prefer all silver or silver/black finish? Also, it would really be great if Verizon didn't blast their logo all over their phones! Opinions?

I was on my way home from work today and made a call. Usually i use my right ear but to day i used my left ear. It sounds totally different then the right. There is a slight echo. When I switched ears it went away. I think it has to do with the Mic placement. I wonder if this was the echo that every one complained about. It is still weird how which ear you use makes a difference.

Anyone else notice this?

Got my new 815 yesterday. Synched with my 2004 Acura TL perfectly. Shows both signal strength and Battery, my motorola v620 on cingular didn't show battery. Call quality was perfect, drove 50 miles yesterday on the freeway and it stayed at 5 bars the whole time. Acura owners, when you're pairing the phone, the phone instructions say to select "find me" on the bluetooth options. That's wrong, you have to select "scan for devices." Once you do that it will pair up instantly. One other thing, if you put pauses in before and after the # and your voicemail code, you can check your voicemail through the car no problem!
