right now i have the 7000 and i think its a decent phone but im really really wanting speakerphone and bluetooth in a phone (i dont care if hte bluetooth is crippled). im really waiting for the 8100 but im starting to get impatient and im starting to think about the 710 because i dont plan on using the EV-DO services with the 8100. but the thing is i dont really trust motorola that much. its just that the 710 has bluetooth and a speakerphone.

POLL:
should i stick it out and wait for the 8100 or should i be impatient and settle for the 710? 🙄

the 710 has been rock solid for months now... you should be very happy with the Moto.... and you will get better reception with the v710.. if you don't need the 8100's memory or the vcast feature and you want the bluetooth tech you can't beat the 710 for 99.99 or free if you got NE2

as a verizon rep I really haven't been a fan of the recent LG quality

I have a 710, after 6 replacements I am anxiously awaiting the 8100 which has a LOT more storage, more features, and has to have a better camera the crappy one on my Motorola. I never had a problem with any LG, I am going back to them. Do yourself a favor, wait for the 8100. I was told today "end of the month" from a Verizon rep so take it with a grain of salt. I am just wondering how may more defective 710's I will get before then.

I can tell you that I went from an LG VX-4500 to the Motorola V710 when it first came out simply because it had a camera and bluetooth. The Motorola was returned the next day due to the fact that it I hated the keypad layout and also that you can't set the phone to keep the keypad backlighting on for an indefinte amount of time. I hate fumbling for the stupid buttons after the lights turn themselves off. I have an 8000 now and it will be upgraded but I will mention to you that on the regular network it used to take me a little over 3 minutes on the 4500 to check e-mails while the 8000 on the EV-DO network takes me about 52 seconds.

im not planning on using the email client. i just want something with bluetooth and a speakerphone. in 2 1/2 years ive had kyocera, motorola, nokia, samsung and LG. so far samsung and LG are taking the lead.

samsung for how sturdy it is, and LG for the really nice screen and nice features. also very sturdy. i like the 8100 becuase it reminds me of the 670 only a lot more better features.

I am still deciding whether to get an 8100 OR E815. I have a LG4600 now and I am not pleased with its reception at all...had to get 2 (family plan) refurbished ones from Verizon in order to have any deceit reception at all.
The 710's problems are well documented but the 815 is suppose to fix those complaints. Even many LG customers will fess up that the 710 has the best reception AND best speaker phone going, as well as a brilliant and large display, so if you are interested in those features you may want to wait and look at the 815...it is more comparable to the 8100. Good Luck!

Not this LG customer, I can't stand Moto. To me it is a no brainer to get the LG Phone. I personally don't like the styling of the Moto phones. But it is about personal preference. I think that the LG phones are great.

i agree. moto phones just dont seem very sturdy to me. and also the camera quality isnt the geatest. its very fuzzy. i think that the best thing motorola has going for them is their name.

it is tempting about the 815 though just because i love the 815 (710) screen. i dont like the buttons or the camera quality though. also the menu setup sucks too. but as far as i know, verizon is going to be making all new phones with the 7000 style menu so the 815 might have it too. i dont know, its still tempting to get the 710/ or 815 when it comes out but i think im gonna wait for the 8100. out of all the phones ive had, im most happy with LG.

I do have to agree that the speaker phone on the Motorola is better than the LG (Nextel is the only carrier who uses Motorola exclusively so that everyone can hear thier really loud and obnoxious conversations on a speaker phone and the direct feature) but if I'm wearing a headset who cares what the speaker phone sounds like.

I prefer a phone that is user-friendly and the Motorola V710 certainly wasn't it.

I'd say if you can continue to live with your 7000, you should wait. The 8100 (and e815) will probably be out within the next 2 months or so, then you can decide after you see them all. But if the 7000 is really, really driving you crazy, the v710 is not a bad choice. It's not a bad phone at all now. Good luck.

p.s. Stop checking these forums so often and the 8100 will be out before you know it. 🙂
