My father in law had problems with the LG VX-6100, but a software update came out a while ago and he hasn't had problems since then. I think it's a good phone. I can't wait till the 8100 comes out.

I think people just don't know any better. They think that is the way a cell phone sounds. (I used to be one of them.) Try putting the motov710 up to your ear then tell me the lg6100 is a good phone. You wont. I have the software upgrade for the lg6100 and the phone is still a piece of ****. The motov710 has the best reception and call quality of any verizon phone hands downs. I have posted some threads bashing the v710 and the e815 for bluetooth, but besides that issue the motov710 ( i believe) is the best phone for call quality on the market from any carrier. I feel like I have a true gage of what a cellphone should sound like now. I got so pissed at the lg6100 that I traded it in for the motov710. I couldn't believe i was doing it at the t...

Yea ok call clarity and reception. Too bad 7 out of 10 710's iv'e sold have come back with software problems in the first week, not to mention the way it scratches itself whenever you open it and the stupid on screen menu that can't be removed so backgrounds are pointless. Oh and it has horrible battery life and the camera is average at best.

How does it scratch itself? I've looked at it briefly in the store. I also looked at one a friend of mine had, but she had a leather case on it.

On the top on that black part whenever you open the phone it scratches. After a while there's a line scratched into the phone along the top. And the new E815 doesn look like its constructed any different.

Actually there was a motorola service bulletin about the scratches and moto will fix it free of charge. All the issues with the 710's were mostly from people using it too fast. If you slow down with it it performs much better. I know this from personal experience. My 710 gets service where vx4500's and vx6000's have dropped calls. But anyway, since this is an LG thread, I've said it before and I'll say it again: LG makes a great product; every bit as good as motorola. The main thing is this: Does the phone make and receive calls? Does the phone fit well in YOUR hand, not others, but the user's? Does the phone have at least most of the features you NEED? Those are the real questions we all need to ask before embarking on a new phon...

you cant compare the v710 to the vx6100. the 6100 wasnt meant to compete with the v710. it was meant to add some much needed variety. if you want to compare a lg to a moto, try to do it with evenly equipped phones. i could compare a corvette to a chevy cavalier but that would just be dumb.

Good point! I think a better comparison would be the 6100 vs. Moto 265. If anyone ever used one of those you would no how funny that is becasue it is a complete piece! Oh waite, I forgot we can't sell them here anymore becasue our entire shipment was recalled becasue of sofware issues! Yup motos rule 🙄

I traded my LG-4500 in for the V710 simply because it more features (camera, bluetooth etc) and I returned the V710 and got my 4500 re-activated. I thought the Motorola felt cheap and plasticky (sp)--not at all heavy and solid like my 4500.

I'm now using an 8000 and I really like it but am still trading up to the 8100 simply because of the wireless headset profile.
