buying one - question
I plan to get the 8100 when its available - but - i'm likely to be "on the road" (away from my home in NJ). Can I purchase from ANY verizon store/dealer AND transfer my number (201 area code) to the new phone? I'm likely to be in texas when the 8100 becomes available.

If you get it at a Verizon RETAIL store, yes. Any nationwide location can help you. If you get it at a Verizon DEALER/AGENT, no you cannot. Exclusive dealers and indirect agents have no competition clauses in their contracts so that they can only activate phones in their markets. example: I can only activate and upgrade phones in AZ/NM markets. Anything else kicks up errors. I have sent out of market customers to Retail and they have had no problems, as long as the account is in your name and not someone else's you will have no issues. 😎
