LG VX-8100

I am starting to doubt the 27th release date. The verizon rep I just spoke to knew of the phone but said july or august for the release. I would think that if this is their next generation phone, vzw would do a little more preheat about it...like putting it in the coming soon section or under the v-cast section. That would make sense. Then again, you never get the same answer twice from any VZ rep.

As far people and their info. I was also told that they don't tell them too much b/c if they go and tell customers and then if it falls through (or doesn't happen when they say), then they are held liable. I guess that's how they try to avoid it - they don't tell anyone!

I have never waited for a new phone before...how were previous releases held? Did the phone just appear one day or was there a big 'coming soon' launch? I know that lg 4650(?) was just released, but there wasn't any mention of it on the vz website.

I know, no mention of the 4650 whatsoever! I wonder why? The only thing I was able to find on the website for "Coming Soon" is that Samsung i730 (or whatever it is)and that's been there for awhile...

It's quite possible that VZ is just too big and doesn't have it's information network working too well.

As far as the arguments about them having lots of 8000 on hand, I'm sure they'll just reduce the price. That's usually their course of action. Keep in mind they'll be expanding their VCast line and they're in it for the service not the hardware. That's where they make their money.

I think their Coming Soon section is used for products that compete with other service providers so people hold off on their purchases and go with VZ when the product comes out.

Yeah, the 8000 overstock rumor...well, I talked to a woman @ Customer Service last week and was asking about the 8100. She didn't know anything about it, but tried to sell me the 8000. She looked it up and said the stock for the 8000 was dangerously low for the Northeast (region I'm in, I guess). Hmmmm....

The 8100 is coming out soon. The reason that some reps and csr's don't know about it is because they do not keep up on things like new phones coming out. Most of them simply show up to work and then go home after their shift and leave the work at work. They simply don't care about the industry and since it is NOT their job to keep up on future things, they don't. They are only required to know about what is CURRENTLY going on, not what's coming. Some of us who like this stuff keep up on it, that's why you hear stuff here and not from a csr. Just think about it.... if you are employed at, let's say, wal-mart in the electronics section and aren't really into your job, you just go to work for your paycheck, do you really care about a movie that...

Whoa! Please understand that I was not the one saying anyone was lying. I was told the same thing you just said - about not telling the reps, etc. until it is actually going out b/c they would relay the info to customers and it might be wrong and then they are held reliable. I don't think anyone is lying. I think the people are telling all that they know - and some know more than others.

Hey guys! We really don't know the release date! I am a rep and I can tell you how it works. In our internal information center website, we have a section on equipment. It is there that we go to find out release dates. I can tell you that as of 10 minutes ago, there is nothing in our system anywhere about the 8100. I am waiting on it myself and check daily to see if there is a release date. I don't know where anyone here is getting their information, but I can tell you without a doubt that it is not to be released any time soon. We usually find out about 2 weeks before the actual date. I will post immediately when that happens...

Is this "approved equipment" that list everyone talks about a spreadsheet document?

Not saying you said Verizon is lying...just a common message to everyone tossing rants around gettin mad that there are a lot of different answers to the release date.
