We can stop holding our breath

I just spent 16.2 minutes on the phone with a Verizon cs person. When she could not answer my question about anticipated availability of the 8100, she went to her manager. To make a long call short--the 8100 info. is there, but neither she nor her manager foresees release anytime in the near and not-so-near future.
I am so depressed now ☚ī¸ . . . and confused 😕 I really do not want the 8000. Wish I could just switch carriers, but I am stuck until December. Hmm--wonder if Verizon will carry any new phones by then?

Well the e815 is coming out. I don't think that the 8100 is too far away. At worst I think august but i don't think that it will be any late than that. People on CS rarely know what exactly they are talking about when it comes to phones, so I would just give yourself a date and if it isn't here by then then get another phone.

If you are on this forum you automatically know more than 90% of all verizon employees about the release of this phone. So please stop calling, your best bet to finding out when it is coming is checking on here, as soon as it posts in inventory, or infocenter someone will defianetly post it on here, until then it is all best guess and rumors.

To back up your point, I talked to someone from vzw last night as I am returning my moto v710 and when I asked about new phone releases the woman instructed me to come to this site for the latest news.

I guess my friend in upper mgt. is correct. He told me that he does not even think the 8100 will be out for Christmas. He said they are way over stocked with 8000s and that the 8000s is selling extremely poor. Their sales projections are way off for the 8000s and they are currently very over stocked with them more then they ever had with any other phone that has been out this long and supposedly there best phone. He also told me testing is not over yet.

I have a hard time believing that, if we are overstocked on any of the vcast phones it would be the samsung or the audiovox, not the lg. I also doubt that the phone will get held back till christmas, worste case scenario would be fall/ back to school time. I am betting it pops up in info center real soon, and when that happens we will be within a few weeks of release.

Yeah, I was also told by a Verizon tech @ a retail store near me that the phone is still in testing.

However...when I called CS to ask about V-Cast and the 8100, she, of course said she knew nothing of the 8100 and said they have an 8000. She also told me that the stock for 8000 was dangerously low for my region (NE).

Prof, if you could switch carriers where would you go? I'm not on any contract and am also tired of waiting. I just want to go buy a decent camera phone with bluetooth. Naturally most everyone on this site loves Verizon but every carrier has its good & bad. What phone would you buy if you could? 😕

Phone--a Nokia. Having had several, I love their reliability and ease of use. The phone that started me craving a new phone is their 6255i--all the features I want--camera, MP3, Bluetooth. I would take that over the LG in a heartbeat, but no one in my area carries it.

Provider--probably Cingular. My son, in college, was a SunCom customer and was switched to Cingular. I like their rollover minutes and the no-count-minutes to others in the system--e.g., my son! Oddly, we talk more now that he is away from home than we did when he was here đŸ¤Ŗ đŸ¤Ŗ If I had the Cingular plan, I wouldn't feel so guilty about infringing on his minutes when I call him during daytime in the week.
Sigh. Sigh, sigh.
Thanks for asking, though 🙂

There are ways of getting nokia unlock codes. Try a google search. Just keep in mind the get it now and mobile web won't work even if the phone does. Plus I'll bet you can't check your minutes from the phone either. Though I also love Nokias, I don't know if it's worth having a crippled phone. On the 6255i forum someone posted that they are developing the 6265 for Verizon right now with a projected release date of late Dec. '05. That sounds tempting. Of course we all know too well about those release dates . . .
I'd just wait (hopefully only) a little longer for the 8100 or go for the E815 instead. That's why we're on this forum, isn't it?

im starting to think the same way. im only going to wait a few more weeks and if it is not out i will go and by the moto as much as i hate them i still have a old lg vx10 that needs to be replaced. so lets hope it comes out in a few weeks or at least 15 days after that so i dont get stuck with a moto ☚ī¸

REAL INFO!
i'm 99% sure the 8100 is coming out early august at the latest. i've got 50 dollar mail in rebate forms for the 8100 in my stock room as we speak. i've never seen them ship out rebate forms for an imaginary phone.
