I have a V710 right now and called verizon becuase I just had a second one sent to me and this one has horrible volume and the vibration is crap. The rep told me I could do an express exchage and get anyphone but there was a $50 charge. I said ok and requested a VX8000 she processed the order and its on its way here. She even check inventory on refurb PDA (650, i730) but there was nothing in. Is this a good move is the 8000 better than the 710???

The rep didn't screw up. If you have to exchange phones because of warranty issue 3 times.. your entitled to what is called a FRU exchange, and there is a $50 FRU fee.

How did you get a replacement phone sent to you Verizon only does replacement under warranty if you bring the phone into the tech dept. at a Verizon store.

I can give you some input on the vx-8000 / I had one for two weeks and found that as a cell phone it worked extremely well. Never dropped a call in two weeks - very good speaker phone - very good internal and external display - very good menu system.
The only negatives at all I found was slightly weak earpiece volume (speaker off) and the clumsy size and shape. It would definitely be my second choice after the vx-8100. The reason I did not keep it is to wait for the 8100!

Junk--I'm on my THIRD one in 3.5 months. Both of them had issues with software (they both wouldn't accept software updates from Verizon) and one of them kept resetting itself when I downloaded a game from Get-It-Now. I was told by Verizon (and noted in my account) that if this one has issues then they are replacing it with the 8100.

I think the phone is great when it works but I'm tired of the reliability issues.
