I've heard the motorolla e815 is due to come out in the next few days. Any reason I should wait for the lg 8100?

If the 815 were capable of a desktop charger that might sway me.

I'm so pissed that these pinhead designers are making all these phones "anti" desktop charger-capable!

The standard Moto desktop charger (the round one w/the clock) works with my V710, so I assume it would work with the E815. It just won't charge the second battery since moto designed it for the V60/T720 and they moved the battery contacts to the side for the V710.

I think LG is really going wrong with "designing out" the desktop chargers. They've only got a few phones now that work with them.

Yeah you're right in the case of the LG. I'm pretty pissed about that too. I really rely on a desktop charger at work. I sit at a desk all day and I can't wear it on my belt all day and I hate leaving it on my desk to get lost plus I hate that annoying startling buzzing when the phone vibrates on the desk 😡
I guess I'll have to wear the bluetooth headset all day, even though I don't use my cell that much at work 😡

Where did you get this 'standard-round charger?'

I ordered it from ebay before getting the phone last summer. Moto doesn't sell it anymore but check their site it looks like they replaced it. If you want the round one, you can buy it here:

Like I said keep in mind the second battery charger won't work, otherwise it works great.

I hate LG's desktop cradle just as bad. It is almost impossible to charge my LG 6000 for past 6 months or so. Everyone in my family got one, and we all agree the chargers are horrible.

I just use the car charger because thats the only one that actually works.

I think chargers are a huge negative for both phones. I'm not a fan of the motorola chargers either.

How reliable are the Motorola's these days. I've heard they've had issues the last few years. I've had LG's for the last few years and they've been rock solid

I've had loads of problems with my V710. My wife's T720 was slightly better but neither one approaches the quality of any LG. The forums indicate that there have been issues with the last few high end LG releases but not nearly as much as with the Motos.

OK, so i read all the posts about the charging and things like that, but I still can't seem to decide which phone to choose with my upgrade which i was just notified I can recieve. So comparing all the features and not figuring in things about them failing and crashing, as these particular models have not been released yet, which phone, without reguarding the cost as much, is more capable, and the better phone out of the two? Also, does anyone happen to have a solid release date on the two phones for Verizon in Ohio? Thanks much yall!!!

i'd have to say i'm glad lg is going away from the desktop chargers. they just don't seem to last as long as the travel chargers. i wish they would put the travel charger in standard with the phone and then offer a desktop charger after market. problem is they aren't putting battery contacts on the back of the phone anymore. options never hurt!

Yup I agree, but i have seen to many customers with the older lg models that have dropped their phones a few times and the batteries won't stay on anymore. The plastic teeth that hold those battery backs on just don't hold up, i love it when i see people tape them on there, wrap a rubberband around there phone, and my personnal favorite someone actually super glued theirs on 🙂 The new design seems to hold up a little better

The newer designs are much better. As an indirect agent I've had phone brought to me with the contacts on the phone for the battery are missing entirely, Ive seen the desktop charger plates missing, broken, dirty and just about anything you can think of.

The bottom line is the new design just seems more reliable. Perhaps LG could design a more PDA like cradle where the phone charges through the port on the bottom.

The desktop charger for the 4400 is awesome! I guess it all has to do with the battery type. The 4400 has the battery which is actually the back of the phone with the contacts visible at the bottom.

Now they're all going to the internal battery. Hell....the chrager that came with my 4650 is tough enough to get in that slot! It's a real pain in the a**!

I'm still holding out for the 5th which is still within my 15 days! Maybe I should go get another phone fopr another 15 days and just keep swapping until this one comes out?

Your next swap is the final one! Verizon only lets you exchan 😎 ge a new phone once - the second new one is final or pay list!

mac 56 is right on that one. on the desktop charger issue. i think it was yeahright that mention the pins that held on the old battery style breaking. i agree completely on that one. but that could be fixed with higher density plastic, or just a better design for the way it snaps in. i also know what people are saying about the external battery connections having trouble. that's why i'm saying have options. sell it with the travel charger(which i prefer anyway) but make the desktop charger an option. if people screw out the outside pins, they just have to go back to the travel charger. at least they had the option in the first place 🙂
