EVDO for tethered solution?
so, do you all realize that you can use EVDO just like 1xrtt as far as your phone acting as your modem, and IT DOESN'T EVEN CHARGE AIRTIME! it's also VERY much against the T&Cs of your contract, and if you get caught Verizon has the right to terminate your service and charge you the ETF, but as far as I know(and someone correct me if I'm wrong here) they have no real way to monitor it. they might be able to detect high transfer rates, but even then it shouldn't be that unusual, downloading those vid clips has to take a lot of bandwidth to start with. any ideas/opinions? I do customer care for vzw, but I don't claim to know everything, so a lot fo you may know more about this than I do. especially since this is something I'm (obviously) no...

I've actually met one of VZ's newer data specialists. He came to my store /w info on PDA's for some of our business customers.
He said since EVDO requires completely new antennas on the tower it will be totally separate from the voice network. I'd wonder if that doesn't mean a plan for EVDO service will be outright mandatory to even register on the EVDO network. A good side benefit of this (as he noted) is that if one goes down the other can still be functioning, so you would still have either voice or data.
