I have had the unique opportunity to test both the 8100 and the E815. The LG 8100 has horrible reception, and poor battery life.

Motorola E815 wins hands down.

These two issues may not be a problem for most users...

In most Metropolitan areas coverage is very good, and most of the time strong signals are available... In metro-Milwaukee Verizon customers have complete access to both the Verizon 1900MHz network and the U.S. Cellular 800MHz network (as their "Extended Network")... So ample signals abound...

The battery life is not a big issue as "most" users are not on their cell phones for more than 3 hours a day... After all, 3 hours a day, is 90 hours a month, or 5400 minutes of usage... Yes, some people do this, but that is the minority of users...

Charge the vx8100 every night, and the average user will not have any problems with a 3 hour "talk time" battery life...

yah I agree. I am not going to get the lg, but the battery is still a lot better than a lot of phones that are out right now. I would say that most people charge their battery every night so it won't be a problem at all. And I highly doubt that the reception is HORRIBLE. Maybe if you are in the middle of nowhere, but for most it won't be a problem.

There are areas where my v710 works that I have seen vx6000's and 4500's not work, but those areas are VERY few and far between. The v710 and vx6000 are the two best phones I've owned as far as reception, and I highly doubt that the vx8100 will be a fiasco like the vx3100, but then again, who knows? (Iguess the testers would 😁 )

I also agrree that its the area you live in. At my job, all the guys have Verizon and get no reception in our store, but everywhere else. We all notice that our battery drains a lot quicker than usual when we are in the store. My guess is because when the phone can't find a network, it keeps searching which drains the battery.
