After contacting Verizon Wireless through email last week I finally got a response to when my contract runs up.

My contract is up in January of 2006 but I am eligible for an upgrade (NE2) as early as November. My only problem is that I really, really want the LG VX8100 ASAP.

I went to Circuit City on the 3rd and the rep there told me if I upgraded my plan I could get the VX8100 at the promotional price when it was finally released (He would not say a date but would not disagree with me when I said the 11th) Keep in mind I went on the 3rd so if the release date has changed I have not double checked.

Now the only problem is that I was actually planning on lowering my contract. I pay 49.99 for 500 minutes and was hoping to go down to 3...

i believe you can get the upgrade price as long as your plan is greater than 34.99, which is odd, since i don't think there is a plan less than that.

yeah but my question is...

What would be the price I would get the phone for?

Would it be the 1 year price? the 2 year price? And would that add more time to my contract?

Thanx the help though.

my roommate wanted a new phone before her contract was up for renewal and they made her pay full retail price and that did not effect the terms of her contract because is was just changing the phone on the plan. Not sure if lowering your minutes would effect terms of contract.

They are scamming you if they're telling you the only way to get the a discounted phone is by getting a more expensive plan. My advice is to go into a real Verizon Wireless company store (and NOT an authorized agent).

What market are you in? Those plan prices/minutes are a total rip. I get 1,000 minutes for $32.99/month in L.A.

I am in central NJ.

Thats the deal I had from a while ago when I got the VX7000.

My next plan of action is to call VZW up and speak to someone over the phone and see what I can do about my minutes and how much I am paying per month.

I was planning on waiting til the 11th to do it so I could do it all at once; get the phone, the plan I want and whatever deal I could for them.

Any further advice ALAOLACOLA? The rep at CC said my current deal was 500 for 50 and that is just too much for me. I am hoping a better deal could be reached.

verizon has what they call an "early upgrade" you need to have had your phone for at least a year on a two year agreement and you need to bill at least 50bucks a month. i think this is what the rep was refering to. my advice is to switch into the newer pricing structure at 59.99 for 900 minutes(there is not 50 price point in the current promo) when you're purchasing the phone and then just call into cust service in the next week or so and get switched back to the 450 minutes.
cheers!

Thats what I plan on doing.

My only question that remains to be answered is this:

How much would I be charged for the phone?

1 year plan price or 2 year plan price? Or another price all together?

Thanx for the advice though. Eight0Eight like the other thread said...you have been alot of help to all of us here
