A few things...

Will there, can there be, an application you can buy through the internet (NOT through LG or verizon) that is like a media player and can play your own MP3's?
if you say no, why not? i know there are plenty of applications for phones out there, why can't this be one? is it already?

Also, the Music on demand thing, will that need all new towers? or will it be available to anyone who can access verizon service?

not really sure on the media player apps question, but i would guess the MOD service would require evdo service. it would be a really heavy strain on the old school network.

Music On Demand (MOD) will be Verizon's attempt to create a music service like iTunes. Verizon has said that the service is expected in 6-8 months though I have heard people say we may have it as early as October.

Using the newest phones released, users will be able to download songs to their phones. It is believed that the 512 MB that spec sheets said the phone has is going to be used for this service but that has not been confirmed.

Currently the price per song is not known but for Verizon to even think they have a shot to get money they need to charge price's close to iTunes. iTunes charges $1 per song and for most albums its $9.99. Another thing that Verizon needs to realize is that they need to get alot of support from the record ...

I had an LG VX8000 for a few weeks and loaded MP3s via Bitpim into the appropriate directory (the only was to get them there as the MOD service is not up yet). Once the files are there, the player controls on the front work and you get use the hidden player. It was quite nice. I would betcha this phone is the same. I also bet Bitpim will work too. 🙂

Will MOD work with the VX8000?

I was under the impression the service is only gonna work on the VX8100 as far as the LG phones are concerned.

I could be wrong though...

ALAOLACOLA!

what is bitpim, and how do you get it?
and for all phonescoopers out there, please explain to us. you downloaded this bitpim thing, uploaded your own full length MP3's, and you could play them with the phone open and just use the front keys, all with the VX8000? This is REALLY important as so many people (including myslef) have doubt in buying this phone now.

How diod you do this with the VX8000?
and what is the "approprate directory"?
