Just picked up phone - Kansas City area
I live in the Kansas City metro area - on the Kansas side. I have been pestering my local VZW store for weeks about the 8100. I got confirmation on Friday that the phones were in, but no release date as of then. I called this morning, spoke with my regular contact there, and was told still no release date. The rep was going to call their RM (regional mgr.?) to see if they could sell me the phone. I got tired of waiting, called 800# Cust. Svc., and asked the person who answered if, since I knew the phone was in the store, if they could put a note in my file telling the store it was okay to sell me the phone. The CSR said, "I don't see why not.".
I called my store 10 minutes later, my contact said, "Yes, there is a note in your file ...

Thanks for your well described opinion on the 8100. I too am upgrading from a VX4400 which I've had for two years. While it was a good phone, I never really 'loved' it.
But based on your post (and others), I can't wait to get my hands on this thing, but I'm going to have to wait until Friday in the New England area. ☹️
Interesting side note - my 4400 battery is dead - won't hold a charge for more than 3 minutes talk time, so between now and when I get the 8100, I'm going back to my Moto V8160 "Vader" phone which was the last phone I 'loved'.
But based on your post (and others), I can't wait to get my hands on this thing, but I'm going to have to wait until Friday in the New England area. ☹️
