Yes, this is normal. Look at the flash when you turn it on to use with the camera. You will notice a white light in the left half of the lens, as you look at it, and the colored lights flash on the right side.

Does anybody know if there is a way to disable this disco flashing when you receive a call?

I was in a dark bar last night, and it lit up half the room. It was ridiculous. Quite a conversation piece though.

Help me... sorry if I missed this somewhere along the line.

If it's anything like the 7000, I doubt you can disable the disco lights. I called Verizon a couple times about it and someone in the 7000 contact LG about it and the response was that the lights cannot be disabled for the 7000. Good luck. I would like to know too (it's not a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to disable them)....

Is there a way to disable the flashing lights on this phone through the phone's menu? Just wondering since it would be a nice option...

There's a spot you stick a pen. You'll just need a Sharpie. Color over the side with the lights or take it apart and disconnect them.

Sometimes they flash quickly and sometimes they flash slowly.... anybody else notice this? I notice it especially with text messages.

So, in other words, there is no way to disable the lights without voiding the warranty... I would rather have the lights flash than do that. I guess if someone dislikes them that much, it's an option, but I would like to find out if LG put that option on the menu of newer phones...
