I just switched to verizon from sprint this past weekend due to better service in my area. I am trying to decide on a new phone and currently have the e815. Size is a huge issue for me. I love the big, colorful screen and all the features of the e815. I also do a lot of text messaging so the large keypad is nice to have. I am not too concerned with the mp3 differences between the phones but the size is a big issue for me. I went to the vzw store yesterday to play with the vx8100 and liked the size a lot better but to be honest it was quite boring. The graphics and display were disapointing. The front display was vivid but very small. What should I do? I have another 13 days to trade my e815 in for the vx8100 or I could wait, anyone know of a...

All I can say is the anything with Motorola's name on it has really poor battery life and signal, everyone I've owned deteriorated over time. It was all we used for work and I have had 5 varying models, 710 & Razor included. Poo-poo. I've owned LG, Kyocera, & Nokias and I would recommend any of these brands before a Motorola.

I agree with the original thread starter, I picked up an 8100 and thought it was a little boring as well. The way people were talking about the 8100 build quality I was expecting something special but it is the same ol' plastic on every cell phone. The screen is vibrant but small. Reliability aside, I think the E815 is a much more interesting phone, has comparable or better specs in a side by side comparison. Each phone has their quirks and everybody is different as far as if one of those quirks would be a deal breaker for you but with that said, the LG looked too much like my tired old lg 4400 and the E815 has a better look and feel. If you can get an E815 that functions well, has to be the phone to own.

Go to the store and look at them both. It's a personal decision after all. And the bottom line is that 6 months from now, there will be even better phones out.

Both are good phones. I choose the 8100 only because I needed a good speaker phone and wanted bluetooth to connect to the HF820 Bluetooth speaker. It's safer to use when I'm driving.

The digit dial is very nice as well - from a safety standpoint - and works quite well for me.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll like which ever you choose.

The E815 does all that. The built-in speaker phone is nice, digit-dial works well, no-training name dialing works well, the voice commands go beyond dialing, they even allow you to check the sta...

Just as a point... the speakerphone on the 8100 is much louder than the e815, the voice "training" took about 20 seconds for the Digit Dial, and the 8100 also supports the no-training name dialing. Haven't had a problem yet.

Bottom line - they are both VERY good phones. You enjoy your e815 and I'll enjoy my 8100... variety makes the world go 'round!

STEP 1: Go to the verizon store and put both phones side by side.
STEP 2: Point yor finger from phone to phone while saying the following: "Eenie, Meenie, Minie, Moe catch a piggy by the toe......"
STEP 3: When your finger stops grab the phone it stopped at.
Voila! You have now chosen your new phone!

Good Luck!

I would go with the LG. Working the two brands has shown that LG is a better, more relaible brand the Motorola. The past two years have been bad Motorola CDMA phones in gerneral. Bad battery life, bad signal, operating system problems...ect....I tell you this after owning three that were bad. Also, the Motorola 710 has been out for a year and mass amounts are coming back with battery issues and software problems. I am not saying get the 8100, just don't get a Motorola!!!

What I find interesting on here is that a lot people are bashing Motorola, saying they are so bad, etc. etc. etc., but seems funny to me that there is no LG brand bluetooth headset and MOST buyers of this phone are getting the Motorola headsets to go with them. If Motorola is soooo bad, then why are you depending on their headsets for your phone?????????????????????????
